Snow has fallen!
Monday...on my walk to Gabi's house. Well, this week started out with a lot of snow! I was pretty excited the first day, Monday but at the same time, had to cancel all of my plans because of the snowfall. The kids had no school and people here don't own shovels which is strange (resulting in ice after the fact). So, Monday was shot as there was no public transport, etc. Rhiannon and I managed quite a good day making snow people that were supposed to look like us! We also made a lemon drizzle cake which turned out great.
Tuesday - no school again. I cancelled my volunteer stuff and in the afternoon, Alex was home with us so we made a carrot cake and hung out together. I later went to visit Hannah, Chris and Mark. Mark and I were researching stuff for our trip to Africa and made a game plan to attend a travel/destination show that could give some assistance in booking, etc.
Wednesday the kids went to school and it felt really nice! We had people coming to look at the house so all the days prior to Wed. we were cleaning like crazy and even Wed. Lynne and I

After enjoying some pizza, we had a yummy bit of chocolate cake! MMmm. were still spiffing everything! Then, they cancelled. Lynne was not impressed. I wasn't feeling great and decided not to go the gym but went for a little walk. In the evening, I went to see the movie Valkyrie. It was quite an interesting movie about Germany during Hitler's time but I wasn't overly drawn into the show.
Thursday the kids were in school but Lynne's mom went into the hospital after suffering a stroke on her other side (she had one when Alex was a baby) and ended up in a coma from what I understand. So, Lynne hurried off in the morning and asked me to be home for the handyman. So, it was another run around changing plans as I was supposed to meet Mark for the travel show after dropping the kids to school! I came home to find that Luke was here and not working all day anyhow but it was too late to go to the show at that point because Mark had to work and with the travel involved, he figured it wasn't worth it. In the end, I did some stuff around the house and then at around 12, Hannah called because

Here is the scoreboard, I made my mark! Yay. I will post the video on youtube. It was quite fun. she was home sick and invited me for a visit. So, I went to her place, had lunch and watched "Keeping Mum". It was a strange movie but I liked it enough. Afterwards, it was time for the kids - Mia, Gabi and Anya came over to play after school too. Dave was home pretty early and told Alex about what was going on with his Nan which got the poor boy really emotional. I tried to keep him thinking of other things and in the end, we watched his new movie "Monster House" with Rhiannon before she went to bed. It worked out okay I think. Lynne stayed at the hospital for the night.
Friday it snowed and hailed. So, we got out to the bus and decided to start walking before finding out school had been cancelled for the day. ANNOYING. So, I missed my favorite class at the gym - Body Pump and had to cancel cleaning house but was able to reschedule and at least, I have some gym spots reserved for next week. Hopefully things will go back to normal next week, the kids are off for school term break for a week on the 16th - 21. Anyhow, just watched Peppa Pig and played Webkinz with Rhiannon in the morning before she went to her friend's house in the afternoon. Alex went to his friend's house in the morning and came home later on. IN the end, most kids had attended school and I had them home for no reason at all! Whatever the case, I got to the library and superstore with Alex which resulted in a pretty good chat about a ton of random things where we really clicked! Despite the exhaustion and frustrations of the day, I think it turned out really good, we even enjoyed a Krispy Kreme donut together!
Saturday was a relatively early morning catching buses until I arrived at Baker Street to meet Begona, my Spanish aupair friend from Welwyn Garden City. We were headed to Earls Court (a new adventure) and chatted along the bus route that was very slow with all the traffic. We arrived at Earls Court One, a big centre (similar to the Multiplex) and attended the Travel and Destination Show. I had scored some free tickets from Mark so I could research our trip to Africa. I talked to a bunch of different vendors and was entertained by some destination dancers and the bucking bronco contest. Finally, some cowgirls and boys in this city, I miss the "hickness" or whatever you want to call it. Begona and I hung out for a bit after the show and then I came back home to clean for Vedrana.
Sunday I took the kids to skating at their school. The rink was basically cold plastic sheets, not ice so Rhiannon did it for about 5 minutes, Alex 10 and at that point I saw no reason to continue. They ended up loving the bouncy castle, assault course and Krispy Kreme donuts so it was all good. I took them to church with me and ran into Hannah, Chris, Emma, Asha and Megan. They came back to the school after church and we all had another donut and watched the kids (Asha, Alex and Rhiannon) run around the assault course again. Dave went to pick up Lynne from the hospital where she has practically lived since Thursday after finding out about her Mom's stroke so they had a bit of peace! After a little rest at home, I went to the gym and had a great workout which was much needed after not being able to go this week! I enjoyed a nice roast lamb dinner with the family and now it's just chill time. Hope you are doing well! Thanks to everyone for keeping in touch and reading my blog. Hugs, Chloe
