First and foremost, Switzerland is beautiful. If there is 1 country you ever visit, make it Switzerland. Don't go without a camera and don't leave without visiting a chocolate shop - they are everywhere and they are to die for. 19/5/08 - Munich to Lauterbrunnen, via Liechtenstein. Stumbling out of bed feeling bloody fantastic at 7am and quickly packing the bags, we made it just in time for our 7:30 departure to Liechtenstein. It was a 3hr drive from Munich to the border checks of Switzerland, just outside of Vaduz, capital of Liechtenstein. Unfortunately for us, it was a little overcast still and we could not see to the top of most of the hills around the area. We arrived in Vaduz for lunch, a quick currency exchange from Euros into Swiss Franc and it was ... read more

Another early start, we made the most of the hostel's free breakfast and pilfered a stack of food for the trip. The bus was the fullest we'd seen it and we worked out from the sign-up sheet that all on board were Aussies except us. We didn't hold it against them, especially when a group of them told us they loved Flight of the Concords, that show is huge, travellers all through Europe were singing its praises and rightly so. Can't wait for the second series. With the Euro 08 football championship being played in Switzerland we experienced strict border control. Apparently they hardly ever stop people but I don't think it helped that our bus driver looked like Ozzy Osbourne. Anyway they must have thought we were drug smuggling because they got sniffer dogs on ... read more

Wow - the Jungfrau. What an amazing place! We went up to the top of the Jungfrau Railway yesterday - very cool. It was built in the early 1900's and goes through (!) two of the mountains, ending up inside the peak of one of the mountains in a cave. There were three restaurants in there, a scientific staion, exits to dog sledding across the glacier, plateau lookouts etc. and even an 'Ice Palace' where everything is made of ice! Awesome. Can't stop using words like 'awesome' and amazing, but this place just is...... Today we went for a walk through the valley to the Trummelbach falls, which were ermmm, excellent.....!!!! and are now killing time while our clothes wash and dry (boring!) Sorry about some of the sideways video! :)... read more

Well, ended up doing a couple of bigger days of diving than we had planned…… Had a late start out of Paris, and copped Peak hour traffic on the freeways at 4:30, but were able to sit on ~130km/h on one of their excellent toll freeways for about 2 ½ hrs to get to a town called Breune, where we stayed for the night. Spent today just going ‘do you want to stop here? Nah - let’s go a bit further. First in Bruene, where we thought about visiting a winery, but it was raining and not particularly inviting. Then in Geneva, where it was also raining, and the traffic really sucked. (Although - we did accidentally pull into the car park of CERN, where they do all of the nuclear physics science with a couple ... read more

Day 3 Paris to Launterbrunnen A travel day today, so not much to report, apart from ten hours of sitting still and some beautiful Swiss countryside. The mountains are simply stunning; it is like a uncommericalised Queenstown on a larger scale - the Swiss alps run forever - although not quite as beautiful as Queenstown in my opinion. Two things interested me in particular; Swiss organisation and wealth and the organic positioning of Swiss villages and houses. I suspect that this is because many of the settlements have been around for much longer than organised roading systems, which tend to develop an order of their own. Our campsite is nice, although accommodation continues to be communal. It is a strange mix on this trip; food is brilliant, accommodation is shit. The setting though, in the middle ... read more

Well, the Switzerland trip was fantastic! We made it to Luzern for a night, then headed to Interlaken for a night, then Lauterbrunnen for two nights, then finally to Bern for a night in the capital! Switzerland is a beautiful, friendly, great country. In Luzern we saw all the town- per Rick Steves walking tour of course. Luzern is beautiful. The old bridges all have a series of paintings on them. And the river runs right through town. We were there when it was warm and sunny so everyone was sitting out by the river. We had a great dinner that night- yuum... cream. The next day we headed off for Interlaken! The highlight of this town for me was definitely the paragliding. It was amazing. The town was really foggy in the morning so they ... read more

The bus ride from La Spezia to Nice was definetly one the most scenic bus routes I´ve had in my life. It took us through tunnel after tunnel, but in between each tunnel were breathtaking views over the Mediterranean. We drove into the French Riviera and through Monaco (The world´s second smallest country after Vatican City) into Nice. Along the way we passed countless number of resort-like houses, including an island owned by Bono. Nice gave me some more great weather while I was there. The first afternoon I checked out the town and had a wander on the pebbly beach. The next day I got up and caught the bus to Monaco. Along the way we passed Grace Rock - the rock where Grace Kelly (the hollywood actress who married into the Monacan Royal family) ... read more

SNOW FIGHTS, DELIRIOUS LAUGHTER & ONE HELL OF A GOOD NIGHT!! I call ze polize!! I loved Switzerland, had so much fun!! We arrived in Lauterbrunnen after a very long day of travel, I think we’d been driving for around 12 hours, so everyone was starting to go slightly mad and really ready for a drink. We settled into our little cabins whilst being totally blown away by the scenery, our campsite was right at the base of the Alps, we sat and ate dinner thinking about how lucky we were. I think Switzerland is the one place where it doesn’t matter how bad a photographer you are it is impossible to take a bad photo, unless of course it’s of yourself… LOL! After dinner it was straight into the bar, the local beer was very ... read more

We arrived in Switzerland, had dinner and got changed for the 'P Party' in 'The Bombshelter' which was literally an on-site bomb shelter that had been turned into a pub. Contrary to how it may seem I am not dressed as 'Where's Wally' I am actually a Poet, hence the pen and paper. And no, I didn't write poems all night I just said that I had writers block. The next day everyone went up Jungfrau Mountain but Rachel and I decided not to go so we went to see an amazing Waterfall called 'Trummelbach' and you could literally walk through tunnels and stairways so you were sort of inside the waterfall it was amazing, and pretty scary. On the way there we saw a base jumper, he jumped off this huge cliff right in front ... read more
