We arrived in Frankfurt at about 6am, it was overcast and cool. Everyone told us that the weather had been so warm, up until today! We managed to find our way to the airport railway station, onto a city bound train and to our hotel near the main station without much hassle. We did wonder who designed Frankfurt airport, because there seemed to be endless escalators and different levels to traverse, a bit of a challenge after a 12 hour flight. Our hotel had surprisingly large rooms for a European hotel in the city centre. The hotel was also very quiet considering it was so close to the main rail station. Another big plus was the fact that you can help yourself to an endless supply of coffee, fruit and pastries in the hotel foyer. Keep ... read more

The last 2 days of our European adventure have been as action-packed as the rest of the holiday. We spent a day doing some local Danish shopping and tasting Danish delights. We left Denmark after a teary farewell to the other Warren clan and headed for the ferry to Puttgarden. We arrived 1 hr early for our scheduled ferry trip and were ushered on to the ferry that happened to be boarding. Last car on. What luck! we would be half way to Franfurt by 3 pm and have a nice relaxing evening at a nice hotel. 2 kms after disembarking we hit heavy traffic. It takes us 1 hour to travel 10 kms thanks to an accident on the only bridge to the mainland. Ok no probs. We can make up time on the autobahn. Travelling ... read more

Amber's Journal: Well, the day has finally come. Our fun little adventure is sadly coming to an end. Well, not completely sad because we are tired and worn out and ready to be home. It's mostly just sad because it was so much fun and I know it will probably be a really long time before we get to go back. We left Strasbourg for Frankfurt around ten this morning and despite some annoying traffic that stressed us out, we made it to the airport in plenty of time to catch our flight. These international flights are sooooo long. I think all together it was about 13 hours. We have been so blessed on this trip that none of the things that could have gone wrong did go wrong. We were very well prepared and organized ... read more

My first official entry from Europe! How exciting. . . Aside from one detour which lead us astray for a short amount of time, our drive to Chicago was relatively uneventful. We were greeted by Katies family and were able to stay in their incredible house. The hospitality was great, to say the least, and the accomodations were certainly the best that I'll see for the rest of the summer! After scrambling to finish last minute trip preparation on Wednesday, we finally made it to our flight, which was also uneventful. Although I do have to give kudos to Air India. . . it was by far one of the most accomodating flights I have ever been on. Two meals and complimentary wine! Who knew? Anyways, the important part of this message is that we have ... read more

Guten tag again, I woke the other morning to the sound of luggage wheels passing over cobblestones. What as pleasant sound I thought as I slowly stirred from my slumber. It was interesting that there were so many people up so early and prepared to hop on the bus. Especially considering it was before 6am as my alarm had yet to go off. However, it seemed a little bright for 6am so I thought I'd check my watch just to be sure. 651am it said!?!?!? I haven't jumped up quite so quickly in a while. I threw on a suit, and dragged my bags downstairs in time to eat breakfast and hopped on the bus for the 730 departure. I wasn't even the last one on it!!! We arrived in Frankfurt, and it was quite a ... read more

Im in EUROPE! AHHHH! As of yesterday morning. I do feel a bit blown away and it was making me alittle sick yesterday when I was walking around....its a very unsettling feeling. I feel like I am walking around with my mouth and eyes wide open. I feel out of context and alittle bewildered and like I am on the outside of some kind of exhibit, walking around the outside and looking in. On the last day my friend Abhijit's dad called me and picked me up in their car and I hung out at their house and had lunch and dinner. The family is amazingly nice and they have lovely dogs. I didnt book a hostel and so i was alittle panicked that I was arriving without a place to stay but i knew to ... read more

A very old friend of mum's meets us at the airport in Frankfurt at some hideous hour in the morning; we are, however, entirely awake and extremely excited. Mum talks of kissing German soil when we land with a big grin on her face, then we clap loudly as the plane slows on the tarmac to indicate the landing was well handled - its something only truely cringe worthly stiff Germans would normally do, but we can't help it. All three of us are German afterall and right now, we want the whole world to know. Its so green everywhere; thick, lush chlorophyll spreads along the Autobahn only minutes from the airport. Its like a mural; the artist has lost all inhabition and splashed shades of deep green all over the canvas as though his pot ... read more

Today was a long travel day to Casablanca, Morocco. Just to make it interesting I was chosen AGAIN for a random pat-down at the Calgary airport security area, second time in my life and both times in Calgary. Do I have the words “search me” written on my forehead? Needless to say the guy was disappointed that he didn’t find anything. The flight to Frankfurt was uneventful. Upon landing at 6:30AM local time I had 16 hours before my connecting flight to Casablanca. I was supposed to be flying to Morocco via Rome but Alitalia cancelled my flight the day before and I had to scramble to get the Lufthansa flight. Now Alitalia is right up there with Air Canada as my least favourite airlines but looking on the bright side I get to visit Frankfurt ... read more
