Hi Everyone, This entry is of a trip that Allen and I took just before Christmas to Brittany. We'd been meaning to do this for a while, and as we both had some free time we finally did it. We took the ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff. It was great trip over and very exciting. We shared the driving and driving on the right side of the road takes some getting used to, but it doesn't take long and you're into it. Going around roundabouts was definitely the most challenging. We had our Lonely Planet and phrasebook with us to help us. Allen was the linguist and kept grinning to himself, and looking very smug when he spoke a sentence in French. I can't fault him as the most I did was asking for the bill ... read more

General Goings on Ok so i've been in Paris working now for a couple of week and as per dads request i am writing up a lil blog. So far everything has been going well. Unfortunately though we still arent open. This is starting to really annoy everyone as we're now just sitting around waiting for the securtiy commision to come and visit us and give us the go ahead. We've done a couple of run throughs in the restaurant now the first one went completely to pot but the second one which we just did this morning went off really well, me and helene even got a 10 euro tip! Hmm Australia Day happened, that was good fun, I went to a new Cafe Oz in Paris on the Grands Boulevard, it was so ... read more

We left the comparatively warmer weather in the south of France and headed north to Lyon. On our arrival we negotiated the metro and a funicular and eventually found our hostel at the top of Vieux Lyon and the place has a great view over the city. Lyon is known as the gastronomic capital of France so we wandered around the streets before stopping at a nice restaurant. We tried to translate our way through the menu and it all went well except the delicious bowl of lentils Mick got for a main meal. The next day we did a tour of the city visiting another Notre Dame Basilica and then weaving our way through some of the city's traboules. These traboules are hidden passages between and around buildings behind ordinary doors, but leading to another ... read more

Adventuring Out Bonjour! It has been a while since I have written, but as you know I have so much going on. Especially from looking at the blog I have posted. On Saturday January 26, 2008 the exchange students at Rennes 2 went to Munt Saint Michel. It is monestary and is surrounded by a bay. It is just absolutely gorgeous. Mt. St. Micheal is just a place that you need to see. It has so many steps there that are steep and you have to climb. When you enter you go throught a village that is very cute. It has all these shops, creperies, and restaurants. The walk through the town is quite steep. Also, the fun thing is that there are several cut throughs that are so narrow. My friends and I ended up ... read more

My first class was International Business Marketing - we had it for 2 1/2 days straight - now we're done until the final...hopefully I took good notes! :) We had a group project - a 5 page paper and a presentation - it was interesting to get it done in one night - definitely not the best project I've ever done! My French class is really easy - some people in the class can't even read French and don't know some of the basics - but hopefully it'll get more difficult as the class goes on so I can learn more French and become better at speaking it. I had basketball practice last Tuesday and it was a lot of fun!! It was hard to understand everything, but towards the end I was able to figure ... read more

... read more
