Hi Everyone, It's been a while and I thought I'd update the travel blog rather than add pictures on Facebook. It's easier this way. I hope you're all well. This entry is a two week trip I took to Tasmania in September. I was well overdue for a trip away and it had been too long since I saw my family. I flew into Launceston and my Aunt and Uncle picked me up and I spent the first few days at their property in Liffey. They have 50 acres and it was like paradise. I could move there tomorrow. Saw Dr. Harry at the airport and Bob Brown lives down the road (didn't see him though - a bit busy in Canberra I think......) I've never seen so much wildlife in one place before. Saw a ... read more

Hi Everyone, It's finally time to come home and I can't wait. I have places to go and people to see! Lots has happened since my last entry. I've been up to the Isle of Skye, Ben Nevis and there are some pictures on Facebook. I will probably do an entry when I get home on the 10th of July and after that will probably close this, unless I do more travelling. My day to day life won't involve nearly as much travel once I'm home. I just want to thank everyone who has looked after me while I have been here - Trevor's family, my Dad's family, Mum's family and the many people I have met since I have been here over the past 3 years. I didn't do all of the travelling I wanted, ... read more

Hi Everyone, It has been so so long - the longest so far between entries. Life has been good. I have a great job and although I miss home terribly at times, I'm enjoying life over here. Allen and I went to Denmark in October to see our friend Claus, and to see Denmark. We flew into Copenhagen and there's a train station just below the airport that took us straight into Copenhagen. We stayed in a hostel called Sleep in Heaven - complete with sheep with wings painted on the walls licking the apple of life. The hostels in Copenhagen are really nice and clean and although there was no kitchen, there was a pool table and free internet which more than made up for it. The people are really nice and friendly and I ... read more

Hi Everyone, Following on from our entry from Brittany........... From St. Malo we went as foot passengers on the ferry to Jersey. We met some friends of Allen's there, Reisha and Gareck. We had a great couple of days there. Again, it was very cold, but really nice. Gareck and Reisha drove us around Jersey and took us to some really beautiful places. We hope to get back there at some stage before too long. The food over there is beautiful, although quite expensive, especially compared to Brittany. It was great meeting Reisha and Gareck and I would recommend it to anyone thinking of going there. ... read more

Hi Everyone, This entry is of a trip that Allen and I took just before Christmas to Brittany. We'd been meaning to do this for a while, and as we both had some free time we finally did it. We took the ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff. It was great trip over and very exciting. We shared the driving and driving on the right side of the road takes some getting used to, but it doesn't take long and you're into it. Going around roundabouts was definitely the most challenging. We had our Lonely Planet and phrasebook with us to help us. Allen was the linguist and kept grinning to himself, and looking very smug when he spoke a sentence in French. I can't fault him as the most I did was asking for the bill ... read more

Hi Everyone, Well, I hope that everyone is well. Things are going well over here. Mum and Trevor left last Sunday after spending three months over here. It was so nice having them here and being able to see them whenever I wanted to. I really miss having family and friends I can see regularly. It's the price I pay for being so far away from home. On their second week here Allen and I met them in Ireland and we stayed with Allen's parents, Paul and Eileen. We had such a great time and the week there went very quickly. We took them to the Giant's Causeway, around Derry, to a stone circle and a couple of castle ruins and to Newgrange and Knowth. Allen's brothers and their children came over on their last night ... read more

Hi Everyone, I've decided to do a few entries on Egypt, and one just wouldn't do our trip justice. We took the night train from Egypt to Luxor. I really enjoyed getting the train, and the trip included a meal and we slept most of the way. It was nice and cool after the heat of Cairo. We arrived early in the morning, and thanks to the Lonely Planet of the Middle East, we took their advice and stayed at the Nile Valley. In Luxor you can stay on the East bank (where the cheap hotels and where all the night life and shops are, or on the West bank where the Valley of the Kings and Queens is. The Nile Valley was on the West bank, and had vacancies. It was really nice - a ... read more

Hi Everyone, Well it's been a while since I last added and entry and I definitely have good reason to now. Allen and I decided at the last minute to go to Egypt for 10 days, and we got a really good deal including flights and accommodation so we were happy. The catch of course being that it's Summer and by 12:00 noon it's 46 degrees celsius. But, with a pool at the hotel and air-conditioning, we were able to survive it. I'm going to do a few entries on Egypt, as we saw so much, and one entry wouldn't do it justice. First, we flew into Cairo. You really have to go there to understand what it's like. We got a cab to the airport and that was one of our funniest experiences. There's no ... read more

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all well. I'm going to write today about our last trip to Ireland. We went for four days and had a great time. We went by ferry again, and I enjoy the trip on the boat as much as getting there. It's so much fun and getting your own cabin with a shower and 3 course meal just can't be beaten. Flying is quicker true, but the boat trip is so much more fun and less polluting to the environment than flying. Allen and I spent our first day with his family and it was great catching up with them. I've put in some pictures below. On our second day we went across the border to the Republic of Ireland (getting up at 4.30 am was hard for me ... read more

Hi Everyone, Well I've been back in Plymouth now for about a week. It's so nice to be home and to have time to relax before I get back into work again. It's nice not getting the underground as well, and really nice to be back in Devon and being able to go to Cornwall and Dartmoor whenever I want to. We've been to Cornwall a couple of times since I've been back, and went to Dartmoor National Park yesterday. It was really nice there. I picked up a book on walks in Dartmoor and we found one of the stone circles we were looking for, but the second one (it's two stone circles off each other) was a little more difficult. The directions were very difficult to decipher when your landmark to head for ... read more
