I took a solo trip to Switzerland this last weekend. I took the train from Marseille to Geneve Friday morning. It was a beautiful train ride and I actually stayed awake the entire train ride! Amazing! The train went throught the countryside and I was able o write a few poems on the train. Geneva was a really nice city. Right on Lake Geneva, people were out and about pretty much all day as I wandered through the streets. I took a random boat ride in Lake Geneva to see the sites and had some conversations with an English man and a few Spanish girls. At my hostel, I shared a 3 person room with a couple born in Malasia but lived in England. We talked about eatern Europe travel , especially Budapest. After a good ... read more

When I was in Montpellier, My friend and I spotted a sign for a fair in Arles. We decided to go the fair, but all hotels and hostels were booked because of the 500,000 people that were expected to attend. So we had to go for a day trip. We took the train to Arles early in the morning and arried there about 10am. We entered the fair grounds and immediately saw a huge bull running through the streets with people running around near it. It was ridiculous. The bull was contained in the street by metal fence. People were running up and touching the bull as it tryed to attack them. Locals ducked and dodged the horns of the bull, while on-lookers cheered and laughed. And of course I and some other guys had to ... read more

I was invited to tag along with a French student named Matthieu and his girlfriend, along with Sean and Daniel from SDSU on an overnight trip to Montpellier. He had a small car and all five of us crammed in with all the SDSU kids in the little backseat. We drove past French countryside including Nimes and Arles. We stopped in a little town called Aigues Mortes. This town was a medevil town completely surrounded by castle walls covered with archery slits. We spent an hour and a half wandering the city streets. Next, we drove to a beach-side city, called Le Grau Du Roi. It was sunny and warm as we walked around. After about another hour or so we headed for Montpellier in the car. Montpellier was a really nice city. We checked into ... read more

I met up with my friends in Heidelburg and we all drove from there to Munich. Our hostel in Munich was great and had an awesome bar. I really loved Munich. There was great food (saussages, pretzels and beer), great people and lots to see and do. We took a 3 hour guided tour the first morning where we got a great understanding of the city and it's history. Hitler had is rise in power and there were so mny historical sites. I wish Granddad could have been there with me because he could of blown the guide out of the water I bet with all his war knowledge. We were able to see the Glockenspeil, which a famous and there are little people that dance around in the central tower. And the city pays a ... read more

I woke up early and took a train to Strasbourg, France. It was about a 6 hour train. From Marseille to Lyon, then Lyon to Strasbourg. Strasbourg is a touristy city but nice none the less. I was able to visit the Strasbourg Cathedral which is huge. Mark (who lived with us in Simi for a year as a German exchange student) and his buddy came to pick me up in Strasbourg and take me to Freiburg. In Freibug, I spent the weekend with Mark and his parents. I was able to speak with his dad in French which was great. They took me on a scenic drive of Freiburg and a hike to the top of a local mountain with a great view. Mark also took me brewery hopping and beer tasting. Mark and his ... read more

This last weekend I went to Nice and Monaco with a few friends. Nice was an amazing city. It was very beautiful and friendly. Monaco was the most amazing place I have ever seen! Everyone is soooo rich and wealthy it is ridiculous. There are Bentleys, Ferarris and Rolls Royces everywhere. The private yachts are like mini-cruise ships with thier own captain, crew and chefs. Check out the pictures and see for yourself. I also went to the Matisse Museum and the Chagall Museum. Chagall was an amazing painter and sculper. I really loved his painting even thought they were highly religious. He is now one of my favorite painters. We stayed in a youth hostel in Nice, France. It was ranked in the top 10 hostels in all of Europe! I found it and booked ... read more

Me and a group of five other international students went on a weekend trip to snowboard/ski in the Alps. This was the best snowboarding I have ever done! In terms of the mountain, conditions, ski town, etc. The mountain was called Alpe D'Huez and is used for the Tour De France as well as snowboarding/skiing. We traveled from Marseille to Valence on the TGV train, then from Valence to Grenoble on a bus. There we went from Grenoble to Alpe D'Huez by bus as well. The mountain was so huge! Our group, three guys and three girls, (from California and Canada) stayed in a youth hostel right on the mountain. It was actually between two runs. The pictures can do no justice to how beautiful this area was. Enjoy!... read more
