This morning went back to boat, supose to splash today. In the end we didn't. Too many things need to be done, between the heat and the fumes...things not getting done. We also wanted 4 coats of paint, it wasn't finished. Of course, they do not work Sat or Sun. The way of the islands... We were back early to apt, took a short break, heat is awful. We then walked to Spice Island Mall to hardware and IGA grocery store. I took Pete for lunch to a local place. He had the lentil soup and I the callilou soup. They put veggies, and name, potatoes, calabaza and salted meat. It is yummy. Pete liked it, and could not eat it all. We walked back, put stuff away and took a long nap. The walk back ... read more

Wed Our last full day we booked a DIY tour, two of us and a driver headed around the island visiting a nutmeg processing plant, several views, a rum distillery and a couple of lakes. It was good to have a guide telling us the history of the area and showing us the fauna and flora. I was moved by the story of the original Grenadian Caribbean’s. After the Europeans invaded and enslaved them in plantations many died. The few remaining survivors escaped and headed to a town, after a while they decided to jump to their deaths rather than live under European rule. We visited the memorial site pay respects as part of our tour. We arrived back at the hotel in time for lunch, I packed my dive kit up, and lounged on the ... read more

Mon We dived again in the morning; this time our first dive was a 30m wreck where the highlight was a seahorse. Our second dive was a shallow reef which was lovely. We came back had lunch and spent the afternoon relaxing on the beach. Tues After breakfast I left Mary on the beach and headed to the town in a taxi which dropped me at Fort George. I took several photos and went down the hill to the museum which was tiny and had little on display. I looked at a few shops overheated lots as I walked along the front looking at the lovely views. I decided to try a bus back so after a bit of a check with the map jumped on. I realised ¾ of the way back to the hotel ... read more

Sat Another early start, following breakfast we headed out to the town again, hoping to be early enough to avoid the mad traffic and visit the local market. We drove to near the fish market and saw parking so entered only to be advised that we were in the bus parking area and told where the car park was. Some interesting manoeuvring later we had parked behind the fish market and headed to the centre of the town. The market was great, fruit and veg, of spices and some touristy tut! We walked for a while and got hot (again!) so headed to the car with its much needed AC stopping briefly so I could drink a coconut mmmm. We got in the car and as I drove of people pointed and the steering was clearly ... read more

Thursday My new car was the perfect vehicle to transport me to the airport. I headed off early, there was little traffic and my new cruise control and automatic gears came into there own! Very easy drive and parking. I arrived at the airport before Mary so had to wait for a while. After checking in and going through security we bumped into half the dive club in the lounge area, they were of to Sharm el Shekh for a week, we chatted to a few people before going to board our plane which was leaving early due to the need to stop in Tobago as there we strikes planned! The flight was L O N G and slow. We arrived at Tobago and stopped, we got chucked off the plane and waited for about 2 ... read more
