Last night John and Courtney took us out to dinner to the Crab Shack on the river. My birthday present and Christmas for both of us. We enjoyed it very much, John seems so happy and contented with Courtney, we think they are good for each other. They are in the process of buying a house. John took our truck, they had bought a trampoline and a bike for the kids. We drove their car to our house. A few minutes later here they come, they storing present in the RV. Courtney's family is coming in this Tuesday for the Holiday. We told to use our house, why bother spending money in a motel when house is empty. So they will stay here. We arrived in New Bern to see our cruising buddies, Marcia and Jon from Non Linear. They have bought a 3 bedroom condo in the same development as Scandia and Quisqueya. So we are familiar with this area. Been here a few times, our regular stop. We stayed with them 2 nights, the 2nd night we went to dinner down by the marina restaurant with a bunch of cruisers. Amongst them was Jerry and Barb from Kumbaya, which we have also seen every year since we met in 2005. Think we originally met them in GGT. They have a summer house in San Diego, and a house in New Bern which they rent. They are headed for the Bahamas next week for the season. We envy them, oh well.... read more

We drove for about 4 hours to Kam and Mike's. They have rented a 2 bedroom house until they find out which area they want to settle in. We had dinner out, looked at a house they want to buy in Baden, Alcoa country. Saturday we spent going all over, them showing us the area, explaining about Alcoa. Found Stone Mountain winery, and of course, we stopped in to sample and buy. We brought a case home, the blackberry wine is outstanding. Sunday, we went into Winston Salem, where Derek and Joey have bought a new house, Kam , Joey and Maribel hit the stores, while the guys babysat, watch football and drank beer. Time to leave, we had planned on leaving Monday, but it snowed. Tuesday, was nice a bit warmer, and Heather wanted to show us the house they are thing of buying. It is a huge house, 4550 sq feet. 2 stories plus unfinished basement. House is 52 years old. Pete took a look at the electric, was frowning. Pete II called a friend to have a look, she agreed with Pete. So this will not be the house for them. It also has a problem with foundation, and basement gets flooded from time to time. Other than that, nice house, 2 acres, close to Pete's job. Well darn it. So wel elft for NC, to the Ledwin's. Heather was up at 0330 and going shopping. Not I! We stayed in nice comfortable bed, nice and warm with Oreo by my feet. Got up around 0830, found Noah up already, he doesn't sleep late, Andrew got up around 1100. Eli was up relatively early. I fixed all a breakfast. We sat around watching a movie and talking. Heather came in, wore out with all kinds of stories. She went to take a nap. I fixed lunch from left overs, yummy!
