Burj Al Arab hotel
Burj Al Arab hotel
This is the amazing 7* hotel in Dubai. A group of us went for the $137US lunch! ....and it was well worth it.
Hi everyone, We arrived from India this afternoon. Another adventure! This one is going to be amazing, I am sure. We left our hotel in Inida yesterday morning and headed for the airport, with fingers crossed that it wouldn't be too terribly busy. We were lucky and moved right on through the airport and on to our plane with no delays whatsoever. Whew! Bye bye India! The crew looked gorgeous again, as they had been shopping and bought saris (spelling?). They are not only an attractive crew, but professional, helpful, happy and lots of fun! It will be difficult to say [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone, Well, we left Agra this morning, bright and early! Up at 5:30, on the bus by 7 a.m. and heading down the road for a 5 hour bus ride to Delhi. We left very early because the road can get extremely busy and the trip would take forever otherwise. We had dinner at a different hotel last night (other than the Sheraton, where we were staying). It was quite enjoyable. It was the Taj View hotel and they arranged a special pool-side dinner buffet. Very tasty and great entertainment, as usual. Weather was perfect! Back to the hotel and [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone! I'm back! I took time to download pictures from our day in Agra. Amazing, on all counts! We left the hotel, as I mentioned earlier, and headed down the streets towards the Taj Mahal. We went early so that we could tour while it was fairly cool outside and before the crowds arrived. Very smart on the part of our tour guide! The pictures are self-explanatory! Sit back and enjoy! (P.S. Happy Birthday, Maureen!!! And Happy Birthday to you, Sheila, for tomorrow 'cause I don't know if I'll be able to get to the blog tomorrow at any time. [View Full Entry]

Without crying........ Ok, so we're back! Tina is with me, writing this blog! Nice to have the company and the help. We had a 5 hour flight from Cambodia; it was quite pleasant. The crew were all smiles in their purchases from Cambodia! Tim and John, part of our group, were celebrating a birthday. We arrived mid-day and what a blessing because we virtually had the airport to ourselves!!!!! Billions of people live here, so you can appreciate that was a miracle for us!!!! And it's HOT here!!!! I never thought I would get a chance to do something like this!
I'm back! There was just so much adventure today, and so much fun, that I ran out of room in the last entry. So, here I am again, with a short note, but more pictures that depict the day. I must say that we are all trying different things, from boat rides, to elephant rides, to ox carts, food, and so on. My heart was in my throat when I climbed on that elephant, but.......I know how to control my self-talk and I also asked for the oldest and slowest elephant (ha ha!)!!!! Didn't want one of those young perky things! [View Full Entry]

Good morning everyone! We are up and at 'em and heading out for breakfast shortly. I thought I would get a head start on the notes for today. We fly to Siem Riep and I am really looking forward to that. For 3 years, every week, I had my manicures and pedicures done by a delightful Cambodian couple in St. Albert (Alberta). They taught me a lot about Siem Riep before I left Alberta (to move to Ontario). They will be in my thoughts for the next few days as we explore this fascinating place. I am also adding 2 additional [View Full Entry]

This was a most tasty dish! You take some of the fish and place it on a portion of rice paper along with some noodles and vegetables (like cucumber) and roll it all up, and eat it. Tasty!
Good morning (from) VietNam!!! We had to say that, although Robin Williams is nowhere in sight! Another day, another adventure. Started with breakfast at the hotel (see pictures) and then on the bus........and what a day it has been. Hot and humid! (and many of you know how much I just love that........) BUT, I'm not complaining (much) because I know you are all sitting there feeling sorry for me, right? Lots to see from the bus along the way (check out the picture of the little piggies going to market).......interesting landscape from rice fields to farm yards to the Vietnamese [View Full Entry]

We were taken to a private business terminal again, for departure from Hong Kong. Thought you might like to see the kind of service we are getting. I love it!
Hi everyone, Well, we've arrived in Viet Nam. Stop #4 (already!) on this world tour. Time flies when you're having fun!!!! Quote for the day: "Too much of a good thing is.........well........wonderful!" And that's how we are all feeling. Wonderful! The pictures you will see today are a bit different, because Viet Nam is unlike anything I've ever seen! We left Hong Kong by way of a private terminal (again); very nice! They had cappucino, coffee, tea, chocolates, etc. waiting for us as Customs checked our paperwork. Lovely touch! We left Hong Kong around the noon hour, and as [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone! First off, Happy Birthday to you Diane Francisco!!!!! Don't know when I will be back on the blog, so I didn't want to miss that! We had an incredible evening last night! Arrived in Hong Kong, had a bit of quiet time in our room and then it was off for dinner. We left the hotel and went to the Peak Tram Station for an exciting funicular railway ascent to the top of Victoria Peak. Amazing! Breath-taking! Once off the tram, we headed into the Cafe Deco for cocktails and dinner. Wow! A sweeping spiral staircase impressively separates the [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone, This blog has been fanned out to so many people now that I'm not sure how many of you are out there! Welcome to Anne's friends! And the crew of Icelandic Air now has the blog address also, so they can follow our adventures while they are "out there" doing their own thing between flights. Before we left the hotel, I went out on to the grounds and took a picture of the bamboo trees. I thought you may be interested in seeing what they look like (I certainly was!). Inside the hotel, I also took 2 pictures of [View Full Entry]
