Whooooooohoooooooo! A free day for all!!!!!! Today's Quote Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop. -Ovid We (Brenda and Pat) were up and at 'em in the gym (to work off some of the food and booze), and then headed to the lobby to meet with Fay and Carroll to send our people off on their respective (optional) tours for the day. Then....... We were on our own! We headed to the Tuk-Tuk (transportation) and off to the market! We had our "fashionista" with us (Fay), our chief bargainer (Brenda), our Marketing Representative (me) and, of course, [View Full Entry]

(Note: It's Thursday evening, almost 10 p.m. I started this blog yesterday, after we arrived in Cambodia mid-afternoon. You are probably wondering where I've been.........well, let me tell you........as there is no internet service in the rooms, I have been sitting in the lounge and/or in the business center of the hotel, plugged in to their network, writing the blog ......that part was easy.......but getting the pictures uploaded has been THE most frustrating part of the whole thing. People have come and gone, and here I still sit.........but I'm calling it quits for now because it's my b [View Full Entry]

Gently down the..........Mekong Delta! That's where we were today and it was amazing. Incredibly beautiful weather today; perfect for touring. We had a very tasty breakfast at the hotel this morning and then hit the buses early. It was a 2 hour drive to the Mekong Delta, with a "pit stop" along the way! People enjoyed the scenery (I got a picture of a banana tree; don't think I ever saw one before), got some snacks, bought a few gifts in the gift shop, stretched their legs, and then we carried on. Once again, we were duly amused by the sheer [View Full Entry]

Greetings from Ho Chi Minh City! We left Hong Kong this morning after an amazing time there! Had a fabulous breakfast at the hotel and then boarded the bus for the airport (private terminal again.......complete with chocolate cookies/chocolate bars/water/juice/coffee, etc. waiting for us.......it's rough, I tell ya!) and then our flight to Viet Nam. It was a quick flight, only about 2 hours and a bit.......and we turned our watches back an hour. We arrived in Viet Nam, coming into the brand new terminal (which opened in Sept. 2006). Gorgeous! Coming off the plane, it was like walking i [View Full Entry]

Greetings, on Remembrance Day! We wore the poppies with pride today, as we toured around the City. Oh what a night.........I loved my Princess Bed!!!! Had a great sleep, and was up and at 'em bright and early this morning. Had a fabulous workout in the fitness facility on the 41st floor of our hotel. Awesome view. Sun was coming up and was bright red in the sky. Had some company up there today..........Seth, Brenda, Klaus, Irene, and Mary Ellen. We're back! What an amazing day so far!!!! It's 5:15 p.m. and we've been out pretty much all day. I just got back from a workout in the pool and feel great! I was up early again this morning; most people were.........up, hungry and rarin' to go! I had a Japanese breakfast this morning; very tasty. Miso soup, egg curd, tofu, pickles, vegetables, kelp, etc. etc. Very light and very enjoyable! We were on the bus and off to Nara (about a 40 min. bus ride). It was another beautiful and perfect day for touring! Not too hot, not too cold. [View Full Entry]

My young nephew Evan and I had lots of fun discussions about this trip before I left. He's a near genius when it comes to geography! I meant to include this picture earlier, but it's never too late.... [more]
And I'm back! We just had a fabulous dinner, in our hotel, in the revolving restaurant at the top of the hotel. Very tasty (as you will see from the pictures)......unfortunately, you won't see a picture of the dessert because we all started eating it right away and.......a picture didn't get taken! Oh well..... After a great sleep last night, we all met for breakfast. Some people went downstairs and enjoyed the traditional Japanese "fare"; others, went upstairs (in the revolving restaurant part) and enjoyed a typical Western-type breakfast. It was a gorgeous day today; lots of sun, no [View Full Entry]

Flying into Japan
Interesting landscapes
Getting closer to Osaka

Hi again, Well, as I mentioned earlier, we had a brief, but interesting fuel stop in Petropavlovsk, Russia (after leaving Whitehorse, and heading to Japan). While we were not able to get off the plane, we were able to get some good photographs. This is a very isolated base, but the geography and scenery are gorgeous! We flew over a slightly active volcano and I was able to get some very good pictures of that. Seth, our young commercial realtor from Oregon, was saying (at dinner tonight) that he could see that place being developed and turned into quite the tourist [View Full Entry]
