The postcard view of Prague
The postcard view of Prague
Beautiful to look at.
Hi everyone, Well, now that you've had a chance to see Cairo, I'll share some of the adventures in Prague. We arrived the day before yesterday. The flight was pretty smooth, with very interesting scenery below. We flew over the Greek Islands and were low enough to see them. Beautiful! Lots of color! Once again, it was party time in the back of the plane! We're a happy bunch! We landed in Prague and were met by our ground guides immediately. It was also time to collect our winter clothing bags from the plane (we loaded them in Whitehorse........). You may [View Full Entry]

Our time in Cairo Africa » Egypt » Lower Egypt » Cairo
Hi everyone, I'm back! I'm writing to you from our hotel in Prague. We had a pretty quiet day and now some quiet time, so I need to catch up! We left Cairo yesterday morning, and it was quite the ride to the airport. The smog was thick and the traffic was heavy. We only had a day in Cairo and it was a very full day. We left the Masai Mara Game Reserve by way of some small chartered aircraft so that we didn't have to make the 7 hour return trip to Nairobi by van again. (One way was [View Full Entry]

More fun!
King Solomon!

Hi there, Well, we just got back from our day around Cairo. Wow. Wow. Wow. Ooops......sorry.......I had promised myself I would find another word or two to use because you are probably getting tired of WOW. Ok, how about, beautiful, eye-opening, amazing, incredible, ageless reality, dusty, smog galore, lots of people, fantastic, surreal! Anyway, what a day! We have some quiet time now and I want to finish up the blog on Kenya. I promised you a part on our visit to the Masai Mara village. So here goes. The tour group broke up into 3 different sections and headed to [View Full Entry]

Good morning, everyone! Well, before I head to breakfast, I will fill you in on another African adventure......the hot air balloon ride! Another "first" for me, and I will admit that, once again, my heart was pounding. But, as Tina and I have decided on this journey, we will "feel the fear and do it anyway!". We signed up for the ride, along with 15 others in our group. There are 2 large balloons and Peter, our pilot, is from Texas originally. He lived in Pasadena, Calif. when he got a job offer in Africa and, in his words: "I haven't [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone, I think this is the part many of the young people have been waiting to see! And it was magical!!!!! I'll keep the note short for now as it is getting late and I am tired. I will add more detail tomorrow when I send Part 4 of Kenya, which included a special visit to a village in Masai Mara and my hot air balloon ride. What an eye-opener and what an adventure! So, we arrived in Masai Mara, and booked into the Keekorok Lodge where we stayed for 2 nights. It was a long drive and there were [View Full Entry]

Hi there! I'm back, to share the adventure of the long drive to Masai Mara! It was rather interesting. It gave us time in the van to get to know each other a bit better. We had a "shopping" stop along the way, at a gift shop. One of the vans had a flat tire, so everyone stopped to help (we had a convoy of about 20 vans, I believe). We stopped for snacks, had some rain, had a snooze here and there........it was all good! Along the way, we drove by the Rift Valley. This is a major geological phenomenon [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone! We're back! I'm sure some of you have been wondering where I've been........well, I've been on the most amazing African adventure. It was like something out of National Geographic! Oh my goodness.......I wish I had my grandchildren, my nieces and nephews with me!!!!! It was unbelievable! I didn't have internet access so I'm now writing to you from Cairo. We got in a bit earlier, I had a quick bite of supper and am now in my comfy clothes wanting to share some of the adventure with you! So, just where do I begin? I want to share all [View Full Entry]

Hi Mom!!!! Do you know where your daughter was last night????????.......riding a camel in the desert, for heaven's sake!!!!!!! So we got back to the hotel after our magnificent lunch and just had time to download some pictures (my card was full, again!), get changed and back down to the lobby. There were 24 jeeps rented, to take us to dinner in the desert. The down side is that it was already dark again so I couldn't get photos of the jeeps racing through the sand dunes. I can tell you that it was "a ride" though! I was hanging on, [View Full Entry]

Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow!!!!! Yeah, I know I use that word a lot, but it's just how we are all feeling. We had an incredible day today!! (I woke up with a bit of a headache.........yes, I know.......it was from all the wine that was flowing last night! But weren't those pictures amazing?????? Wish you could have been with us!) We had a city tour by bus today and my pictures will show you some of "old" Dubai and the billboard that depicts what Dubai will look like in the future with all the construction going on. Ok everyone, I'm back! I can see that our time in Dubai is going to be a 4-parter as far as the blog is concerned! What a day we've had today!!! It was essentially a "free" day for us, to relax or do whatever we pleased. So many options, so many choices.......at first I was going to go to the infamous Emeriates Mall, where there is an indoor ski resort. That was the plan! But, plans change. I then had an invitation to join a group who were heading to the famous Burj Al Arab hotel for lunch! Bingo!!! Count me [View Full Entry]
