I woke up excited today because we had a free day in Paris and the weather was perfect. After breakfast we all grabbed our things and jumped on the bus as Billy drove us into Paris and dropped us off just by the Eiffel Tower. Hannah and I rushed off the bus and quickly walked toward the incredible Eiffel Tower taking plenty of photos along the way. It was such a beautiful structure it was so much better than I had ever imagined. From a distance we could the massive lines of people waiting to go up so Hannah and I quickly joined the end. We planned to take the stairs as far as we could then take the lift right up to the top. We waited around 30 minutes before we bought tickets and began ... read more

Got woken up this morning around 5AM by someone making noise in the dorm room but since it wasn’t far off the time I set on my alarm I got up. I had a shower and got my bag ready to meet down in the reception of the hotel ready for our three week Topdeck trip around Europe. We ate some breakfast then sat around waiting for everyone to arrive and get their names checked off. As soon as we were all there we grabbed our luggage and walked around the corner to where a bus was parked to take us to Dover and across the English Channel. During the hour long trip from London to Dover we were introduced to out tour leader, Jamie and he also introduced us to our driver, Billy and cook, ... read more

People from England who I had met on my travels all got excited when the topic of thrill rides came up because Alton Towers was the place to go while in England. Hannah and I were up and on our way early that day so we could have the most time possible at Alton Towers. It took us just under 2 hours to get there and I was so excited, I couldn’t wait. Once we arrived we bought tickets and headed inside, I had no idea where to start so I let Hannah lead the way. The first ride was called Hex, and the line as totally empty, we went straight in. I had no idea of what to expect going into this ride but when it finished I was amazed. It was great, not a ... read more

DAY 1: We had booked some cheap flights to Bergerac for 11 days where Hannah’s parents had a holiday house. Her dad drove us to John Lennon Airport in Liverpool and we took the three hour flight into probably the smallest airport in the world, Bergerac. It was just a shed in the middle of no-where. I got my passport stamped and we waited for a family friend who picked us up and dropped us at the house. For the rest of the afternoon Hannah showed me around the house which was an old converted barn opposite wine fields. In the evening we decided to go out and Hannah took me to a small town nearly called Eymet. We had a quick look around this tiny town and had dinner at one of Hannah’s favorite restaurants. ... read more

28/06/2008 - London: We had arrived in London the night before by taking the train from Leeds. It took around two and a half hours and once we got into London we took the over-ground to Dave’s (Trek America) house. Today was my birthday, and it was the first time I had ever been into London city. We woke up, got ready and headed straight into town. Today was a beautiful day which was fantastic because we were off to the London Eye. Once we arrived I was amazing by the size of the Eye, it was huge, and there were people everywhere waiting to ride. We had booked our tickets earlier and used the electronic ticket machine to get them. We were waiting in the line for at least 30 minutes before we were finally ... read more

17/06/2008 - Liverpool: Today we jumped into the car and drove all the way to Liverpool, home of one of the biggest bands ever, ‘The Beatles’. It took us just over an hour to arrive and we found a car spot just outside the Albert Docks. We wondered around here for a while, going in and out of some of the free museums and art galleries around the Docks. The weather was quite miserable in Liverpool today but still we decided to take the open-top sightseeing bus around the city to get a better view of all the sights. Especially the three Heritage Listed Buildings which sit next to each other beside the Albert Docks. After driving around for a while we got off to get some lunch near Mathew Street where The Beatles played their ... read more

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANNAH!! We met up with a few of her friends and went to have some lunch and a café in Batley. We sat and ordered a tasty, but expensive meal then decided to go have a day of fun at a place called Xscape. First we had a couple of games bowling, I lost badly in the first match but came back to destroy everyone in the second. We then had a look at the indoor ski slope and watch people do up and down the impressive indoor slope. As we were leaving we decided to have a shot at the mini-golf which was really tacky but quite fun nonetheless. Since Hannah and I had to go for dinner at her cousins pub up in the North Yorkshire Moors we had to head back ... read more

09/06/2008 - Leeds: After a few days resting and getting used to the massive time difference I had gotten accustomed to in Asia, Hannah and I decided to go into the nearby city of Leeds. We were dropped off at the station and went to buy tickets. I was stunned to find that they cost us almost £23 return to the closest city, what a rip off. After the shortest most expensive train ride of my life, we arrived in the centre of Leeds and began to wander around. Hannah knew her way around quite well and showed me around the city. We went into an Orange store and I decided to buy an English mobile phone as it was absurdly expensive to use my Australian one. After buying a snazzy new phone we continued walking ... read more

I survived the massive 13 hour long flight by watching movies the entire time, I had barely any sleep and wasn’t really hungry either. Finally we landed in Heathrow, London, it was my first time I’d been in England after wanting to for so long. I passed through immigration after a few questions about my UK Visa, then met with Hannah to find her parents waiting for us on the other side. They stood there welcoming us with a huge banner they had made in the hotel the night before. We all got some food and sat down to eat since Hannah and I were both starving after hardly eating during the flight. We finished up and dragged our luggage to the car for the long drive to Leeds where Hannah’s parents live. I was awake ... read more

Asia » Hong Kong » Kowloon June 6th 2008

We decided to have sleep in this morning since it was our last day in Asia and our flight wasn’t due to leave until 12:30AM. We packed our gear, got ready and checked out of the hotel. Today we were heading to the history museum of Hong Kong to learn more about this amazing city. However we went to leave we realized it was absolutely pouring down outside so we grabbed a taxi to the museum to stay out of the rain. We tried to take as much time as we could around the different exhibits and displays but there were so many and so much information to read that eventually we started to speed things up. We were there for a few hours by which time seen almost everything and I had had enough of ... read more
