17/06/2008 - Liverpool: Today we jumped into the car and drove all the way to Liverpool, home of one of the biggest bands ever, ‘The Beatles’. It took us just over an hour to arrive and we found a car spot just outside the Albert Docks. We wondered around here for a while, going in and out of some of the free museums and art galleries around the Docks. The weather was quite miserable in Liverpool today but still we decided to take the open-top sightseeing bus around the city to get a better view of all the sights. Especially the three Heritage Listed Buildings which sit next to each other beside the Albert Docks.

After driving around for a while we got off to get some lunch near Mathew Street where The Beatles played their first ever gig. We downed our food and crossed the road to have a look at the famous Cavern Club where The Beatles were made famous. I took a few photos, had a quick look around then we headed of to catch the sightseeing bus again. As the weather got worse we stayed on the bus and drove around the circuit until we arrived

back at our car, ready to head back home. On the way we decided to drive past Enfield where Liverpool Football Club are based and take the Stadium tour. But once we arrived, we found out that due to construction works they weren’t doing the tour today, instead they let us in the museum for free. We had a little look around then headed back to Batley.

18/06/2008 - Nottingham: We headed to Nottingham today as we were invited to a burlesque fashion show with a company Hannah used when she lived here. Hannah went to university here and lived in Nottingham for almost 9 years. First stop was Wollaton Hall which was an old Stately home with huge parks around it. It was impressive from the outside but inside it was filled with stuffed animals which weren’t terribly interesting. Afterwards we drove into the centre of Nottingham and Hannah took me to an old church which had been converted into a bar, where we had lunch. Afterwards we headed to the Nottingham Caves. The entrance was in a shopping mall but unfortunately we got there a couple of minutes late and weren’t allowed in. Instead we made our

way to another pub and had a few drinks and played some cards.

Eventually we headed back to the car and got changed into some smarter clothes ready to go out with one of Hannah’s friends, Selina. We met at Hannah’s favorite restaurant, 4550 Miles from Delhi, an Indian restaurant which served amazing food. Afterwards we walked across town to the pub where the fashion show was. We got our free drinks and picked out a spot right in front of the stage. Soon enough the show started and my night was spent watching half naked women walk up and down the catwalk, it was great. Towards the end of the show they had raffle and Hannah won a lunch voucher to one of the best restaurants in Nottingham. She also bid of a photography session and got it for 75GBP which is apparently a bargain since it was with a professional photographer. After a few more drinks we walked back to the car, dropped Selina off and drove back into Batley.

19/06/2008 - York: This evening we decided to drive into York and go on one of the famous ghost tours which we had read about. We

only just got there in time and I stood waiting for it to start while Hannah found a car spot. As I stood waiting, I could hear someone ringing a bell, and walking around the corner comes this guy dressed in back, looking very scary like. In one hand he carried a black suitcase and in the other a stepladder. As he approached us he looked us over and suddenly started shouting which gave us all a fright. Finally Hannah came running up after finding a car park and joined the rest of the group on the tour. We walked around the small town of York stopping here and there for a spooky story from our guide. He was brilliant, it was really entertaining and at some points hilarious. It went for around 40 minutes then we walked past York Minster for some photos then back to the car and drove home.

21/06/2008 - Manchester: The main reason for going to Manchester today was so Hannah could meet up with some of her friends. So I thought I may as well tag along and check out a little bit of Manchester while here. The drive took around an hour

and we parked in a shopping centre car park. It was a miserable day in Manchester so we tried to spend as little time outside as possible. We had a quick look inside Manchester Cathedral and around that area outside the shopping centre then it was time to go meet Hannah’s mates. We met them at Piccadilly Train Station for a coffee then followed it up by walking to a nearby pub for a few drinks. For most of the afternoon we sat chatting then as it started to get late Hannah and I decided to head back to Batley. Although I didn’t spent much time in Manchester I had planned to come back soon.

26/06/2008 - Nottingham: Hannah had arranged a few appointments in Nottingham since that was where she’d been living for the last 9 years. I decided to come down and we could try do the Caves again. After Hannah’s appointments had finished we headed back to the shopping centre where the Caves entrance was. When we arrived we were told that it was closed until later in the afternoon due to a school trip going through. It was getting really frustrating now, twice we had

been turned away, if it happened again I was going to crack. We had a quick walk around the city and up to Nottingham Castle for a quick look at the views. Eventually we made our way back to the Nottingham Caves and finally were allowed in. We took a tour around the caves which ran beneath the city, they were quite impressive, and in some places they were so long you could actually walk to the next city. After emerging from the caves we returned to the car and drove back to Batley.
