21/08/2009 - Since I hadn’t visited any new countries so far this year Hannah and I decided to take a short break to Budapest, Hungry. Hannah and I flew out together however since Hannah would spend the Monday working in Budapest it was planned that I fly back on my own on Sunday night. We landed in Hungry in the late morning after a two and a half hour flight with W!zz Air and looked for the best way to get to our hotel in the city. We decided even though public transport was much cheaper we had no idea where we were going and we didn’t speak Hungarian, so we choose the airport shuttle bus. The shuttle bus took us straight to our Ibis hotel where we checked in and headed to our room. We ... read more

I tried to purchase U2 tickets to their Wembley gig back in March however after spending much of the morning on the Ticketmaster website while at work I had absolutely no luck. I was devastated. But there was no way I was missing this, I jumped on eBay and started bidding away to secure some tickets and it wasn’t long before I had won myself an auction, even though I paid over double the cost price for them. It was a long wait but eventually a week before the concert I received the tickets and finally the big day was here. Both Hannah and I took the day off work and I convinced her to line up in the early morning and queue all day to get the best spot. We drove to Wembely Stadium early ... read more

12/07/2009 - It had been ages since Hannah and I last had a decent break from work so we decided to go with some friends to Hannah’s parents in Bergerac, southwest France. I was so excited because I love coming here and especially this time of year for Bastille Day. There were 7 of us altogether and we all arrived roughly at the same time so Hannah and I gave a tour of the converted barn. For the first few days we spent most of our time sitting by the pool enjoying the relaxing atmosphere in the beautiful weather. We cooked delicious meals together and spent the nights playing games and drinking loads and loads of local wine. The 14th July was Bastille Day, a French national holiday where they celebrated all over the country by ... read more

Since I wasn’t really doing too much for my birthday this year, Hannah and I decided to do a London sightseeing tour which I had wanted to do for a while, the Fat Tire London bike tour. Hannah’s brother, Matthew also came along as he was staying with us for a few weeks. We headed into the city and made our way to the meeting point where already there were quite a few people waiting around for the 11AM tour. It turned out that quite a lot people had pre-booked which meant it was more than likely we wouldn’t be able to do the tour this morning. We waited and waited for bookings to show up but no-one did, which luckily meant they had free spots for us. We followed our tour guide across the road ... read more

09/04/2009 - For the Easter long weekend Hannah and I decided to take the opportunity of a few days off work and head across to Southern Italy. We had booked flights way in advance and decided it was worth the expensive holiday flights to go somewhere we both had not been before. Both Hannah and I brought our luggage to work as we would leave early and catch the flight over that night. Our flight was at 18:00 and I left work for the airport around 15:30 however I massively underestimated the long weekend traffic. We drove separately and we were both stuck in the same terribly bad traffic, it was so bad I was convinced that we would miss our flight. However eventually, somehow, we made it to Stansted airport and only just barely, barely ... read more

Over the last few weeks the English winter was beginning to get colder and colder. We woke this morning to find our backyard totally covered in snow and it was falling very heavily. I was stunned, I had never seen fresh snow so thick and it was throwing it down with more. I jumped out of bed and ran outside to check out the street, absolutely everything was white, totally covered in snow. I was starting work late this morning but it wasn’t long before I received a message on my phone from the boss, saying don’t bother coming in to work today, apparently all of London was buried in snow. It was said to be the heaviest snowfall in over 20 years, it was so deep, it was difficult to pick which car was mine. ... read more

23/01/2009 - Since Hannah and I were now living and working in London, we decided to take the Friday off work and go for a little road trip. Today our plan was to stay the night in Bristol, and have a few sightseeing stops on the way. After an hour or so drive we stopped in Salisbury to have a look around the city. The main attraction here was the spectacular Cathedral which was one of England’s largest. It was amazing, an extremely impressive building however still shadowed by York Minster Cathedral in York. We continued to explore the small city which really felt like a small country town after spending so much time in hectic London. We eventually made our way back to the car and drove on to our next stop, Stonehenge. Stonehenge was ... read more

29/12/2008 - Since Hannah and I both had quite some time off work over Christmas and New Years Eve we decided to head across to Paris for the New Year Celebrations. We made our way to St. Pancreas train station in London and caught the Eurostar train straight into the centre of Paris. The trip took almost two and a half hours, most of which was spent sleeping. We arrived in Paris in the early afternoon and once there we queued for metro tickets to get to our hotel. Suddenly I heard my name being called, I turned around to find Cath and Michelle from our Topdeck tour, standing right behind us. After a brief catch-up we decided to meet up with them on New Years Eve to Celebrate, we got our metro tickets and made ... read more

For my 25th birthday Hannah had bought me a racing package with a choice of various driving sessions to choose from. I had to choose from driving a Ferrari, Lotus, Rally Car, Stock Car or single seater and of course since I was so into Formula One I just had to choose the single seater experience. I had booked myself in quite some time ago and it was unfortunate when I woke up to see a miserable rainy winter’s day. My session was very early beginning at 8AM so after an hour and a half driving to get there I was very tired and very nervous. There were about a dozen of us driving today, we heading into the briefing room to have a chat with race director about how to drive the singer seaters, rules ... read more

18/10/2008 - It was Hannah’s brothers 21st birthday coming up and to surprise him we arranged to visit for the weekend in Poitiers where he was studying. It wasn’t something that we really planned to do beforehand, it was all quite last minute, but since Hannah’s dad was paying for flights and hotel for us we couldn’t resist. We took a day off work and flew into Poitiers where we met up with Hannah’s parents. They drove us to Matthew’s accommodation where we all said hello and happy birthday before heading out for dinner to celebrate. There were quite a few of us consisting of mostly family and Matthew’s Uni friends and we all ate and drank ourselves silly. After eating dinner Matthew and his Uni mates headed out for drinks, Hannah and I were so ... read more
