This morning we were moving on again, we got ourselves ready, packed the car and left Ponderosa Ranch to our next destination, Monument Valley National Park. I was behind the wheel today. It was a nervous experience considering my lack of experience driving on the wrong side of the road. After a few hours driving across the beautiful canyon lands of the South-West we arrived at our Monument Valley hotel called, ‘The View’. Last time Hannah and I came here the hotel didn’t exist and that was only a couple of years ago. We checked in but our rooms were not yet ready, so in the meantime Selina & Ash decided to go on a Navaho Indian guided tour, while Hannah and I would take the 4 by 4 and explore on our own. So after ... read more

Once we were all ready this morning we jumped into the 4WD and made our way to the next National Park, again one Hannah and I had been to before and loved, Bryce Canyon National Park. It was another scorching hot day as we took the 2 hour drive into Bryce Canyon stopping briefly to pick up a slab of water to keep us alive in the heat. Our first stop was the Bryce Canyon National Park sign where taking a few cheesy tourist photos of us climbing all over it was a must. We eventually jumped back in the car and drove to the nearby Visitors Centre to check it out. This is where 3 years ago I purchased an amazing National Parks of America Book and since then a new editions had been released, ... read more

It was an awesome few days in Vegas but today was time to leave the city lights to explore some of the nearby National Parks. We packed all our gear, checked out of The Wynn and the four of us took a cab to the Las Vegas airport. It was here we picked up the hire car, we picked the biggest SUV our money could buy, a Nissan Pathfinder, it was great. Ash began the drive as we hit the interstate on our way to Zion National Park. It took a few hours to get to Zion and our first stop was the National Park sign. Each of us got out of the car and took some photos, then shortly after got back in the car to find the visitors centre. We were a little nervous ... read more

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! It’s my 27th birthday today, what better place to spend it in than Las Vegas. We again had breakfast in that amazing café downstairs, remember the one I mentioned yesterday?! Selina & Ash were keen on spending most of the day by the pool, but as usual I really wanted to be out on the strip while we had the opportunity. So Hannah and I decided that today we would walk in the opposite direction to where we usually go, see what’s around. Unfortunately there really was nothing there, so after a while we took one of the backstreets (past the Korean restaurant we went to last time) and took the monorail all the way to the final stop. Slowly Hannah and I were coming around to the idea of sitting by the pool ... read more

This morning we woke up, got ready and met Selina & Ash downstairs in a café for breakfast. This wasn’t just any café, it served one of the best breakfasts, I’d ever eaten, beautiful fried eggs with spicy chorizo and small lemon cake thing which was amazing. But before I get too carried away on breakfast, today we had the whole day to explore this awesome city they called Vegas. We walked down past the Venetian Hotel & Casino when we decided to buy tickets to see Phantom of the Opera in a few days time. We saw it when we were last here in Vegas and it was amazing so both Hannah and I had no issues seeing it again. We continued our way down the strip and decided to have a quick look inside ... read more

At the time I thought it was a great idea, but when my alarm woke me at 6AM this morning I felt like death. I dragged myself out of bed and got ready for a busy day out visiting the Hoover Dam. Last time I was in Vegas, during my trip across the States with Trek America our tour guide told us that it wasn’t open to public anymore, I was devastated that I missed out on seeing it. I made sure that on our return to Vegas we visited the Hoover Dam while we had the chance. Hannah and I headed to the tour pickup point at The Wynn and shortly after our tour bus arrived at took us to Planet Hollywood where we checked in for the trip. Soon enough we were back ... read more

Vegas Baby! What originally started as silly idea quickly turned into the best idea we’ve had in ages, Vegas over summer. We sold the idea to some friends and the four of us were set. Hannah and I’s flight left London Gatwick mid morning but we still needed to get up at the crack of dawn since Gatwick airport was on the opposite side of town. It probably took us a good 1 ½ hours on public transport, that including getting a taxi, the tube and the overground before finally reaching Gatwick. We checked our bags in, found a café for breakfast and before long were ready to board our long flight across the Atlantic Ocean. It was a long, long 10 hour flight. We flew Virgin Atlantic and our seats were awful, they were broken ... read more

A couple of months ago P&O were doing a special deal which gave us a return trip across the channel in one day and 6 bottles of wine. Hannah was quick on it and bought us a trip with our car for only £19. I had only just got back from Poland last night and already I was up early for a long day out to Bruge and back. We set off before sunrise and drove to Dover in just over an hour. Once the ferry was ready one by one we drove on for the 40 minute crossing to Calais. When we arrived we quickly stopped off to get some Euros in Calais then began our drive through France into Belgium towards Bruge, the whole drive only took a couple of hours. We arrived in ... read more

Europe » Poland » Lesser Poland » Kraków February 24th 2010

After being just over a month in my new job as a Merchandiser at one of the biggest retail companies in the world, I was being sent out on my first business trip to Krakow, Poland. Now I wouldn’t usually write an entry for travelling with work, because honesty how interesting could it possibly be. But since I have never been to Poland before I thought I’d throw it in here. My colleague and I were going only for a couple of nights and obvisouly spent the majority of the time working at the Tesco head office in Kapalenka. However when we had the chance after work we headed into town to have a look around and find somewhere to eat. It was absolutely freezing in Krakow and was very quiet out and about, with it ... read more

After an awesome trip travelling around the East Coast of Australia my final week was spent in Melbourne before the long flight back to the UK. Most of the time was spent going out with mates while I had the chance and also spending some time with family. By this time Hannah and I were totally broke and were solely reliant on credit cards which already had a massive amount of debt on them. What made things worse was the shocking exchange rate from pounds to dollars at the moment which made it so much more expensive than we ever expected. However if there was something going on, money was the last thing on our minds as it would be quite some time before we returned to Australia to live. One thing we did decide to ... read more
