Hiya everyone! It is lovely to hear from you all! We hope you are all well. I just want to say thanks again for everyone who blogged in Singapore. Much appreciated!!! After a delayed flight - we arrived in thailand where we are going to stay for 3 months. Like Singapore, Bangkok is also pretty "deserted" (as you can see in our photos hehe). We have been in Bangkok now for 4 days (3 full days) and it is really good. We are in a good location and have done quite a few things so far and have taken a lot of pictures of temples especially (see photos). First day - We somehow managed to get a free tuk tuk for an hour and a bit and so visited some main temples. We havent used any ... read more

Hi folks, hope you're all well! Today is our last day in Phuket as we fly out to Denmark tonight...yeehah!! Although spare a thought for our legs fighting off the deep vein thrombosis on the long flight....oooh nasty!! Yesterday we went on a tour to James Bond Island in Phang Nga Bay. Its called James Bond Island, cos a lot of the movie 'James Bond - The man with the golden Gun' was shot on location there. It is such an amazing island, absolutely beautiful. Our tour guide spoke what he thought was perfect english, but what we could describe only as 'what the hell did he just say'??? He spent most of the time explaining why the tour was so cheap compared to other tour companies (our main reason for choosing this tour) and that ... read more

Finally at Haiyai. We met a nice man called Bui in the next bunk who recommended us his hotel, as well an an Australian named John who's on a five week backpacking trip. He gave us lots of tips on where to go and the local buses we can take to get to places. The local bus to Songkla beach costs 18 baht ($0.60). It's a one hour journey to a rustic looking beach. John followed us and told us alot about where's he's been. We picked up seashells. Tfaduh intends to give them to his sisters. ... read more

If you ever want to try genuine local Thai buffets, go around and ask about “Mukata”. Mukata is apparently where people go to enjoy cheap food on a do-it-yourself hotplate and steamboat. Their steamboats are combined with the hotplate and you cook everything on this nifty device. They seem to have everything available on the buffet table, including different cuts of chicken, pork, fish, and seafood. And when I say different, I mean it comes in all variations, marinated, raw, processed, etc. The liver is particularly good. They have ice-cream, dessert, as well as different types of noodles and cooked food. The only rule is that you must finish whatever you take or they’ll charge you extra. Drinks are on the house, and each person usually pays about 80baht (S$3.60) to partake. ... read more

Left on the early flight for Chiang Mai. Got to Tri Gong Residence (where Felicia was staying), met up with her, and we went to breakfast at Grace. She went to work and I walked around the old city until lunch. My goal was to walk the perimeter of the old city that day, but I only got about a quarter of the way around before lunch. Went back to Felicia’s office to have lunch with her and her co-workers. Stopped at the Queen Victoria Inn for a quick pint before setting out to conquer the rest of the city. Continued my tour of the old city, and it was hot as hell. Saw Wat Hua Kuang, remnants of the old city walls and the gates, Wat Prasat, Wat Phabong, Wat Phra Singh, Wat Chiang Man, ... read more

Hello all! I am in Phuket now... my injuries (see previous entry) are healing... I still can not sleep on my right (bruises and scrapes on right side of body) or on my back (stitches to back of head) but it IS getting better. I can walk without a limp now and the bandages are gone from my head (that was a drag! Everyone asking "you crash bike". Anyway, not much to say about Phuket at the moment... it is quiet here so far, the weather is a bit cloudy... Will take some snaps and post more as it happens. Not sure how long I will stay here... a few days at least.... read more

Alright, this weather has taken a second day to force us to relax and read a bit more. I have come to town on my own (Don suggested that I drive by myself every once in a while) to exchange my reading book and jot a few things to you guys. We have been just relaxing and enjoying the changes in weather. Don claims that there was a hurricain that hit us last night, as the winds were atrotious and gusts shaking our little bungalow. The wet clothes that had dried from the previous day's snorkeling had been thrown to the ground and were sopping wet. Things were in shambles on our porch. Even though it is all roofed in and supposidly secluded from the elements, the winds were just whipping sideways and backwards and diagonal, ... read more

We spent 3 days in Bangkok. Bangkok was great. We stayed on the river at the Millenium Hilton. We got a boat tour of some of the most famous places in Thailand including the Grand Royal Palace and Wat Pho. You may remember that a Wat is a Buddhist Temple in Thailand. Wat Pho is the location of the biggest Buddha statue in the country. He’s really big! He’s lying on his right side looking very serene. The bottoms of his feet are mother of pearl—very beautiful. The Grand Royal Palace is totally magnificent. There’s gold everywhere and exquisite murals. The king and his family don’t live there but they do use the palace for ceremonies. Three times a year the king himself changes the robes of the Emerald Buddha, a beautiful statue of the Buddha ... read more
