Lobster anyone?

Actually I'm possibly more of a salmon colour now rather than lobster, no sign of blisters just yet, but there's still time. Well, my plan for this blog was to have a whole heap of interesting pics from our Mekong Delta river tour, aswell as pics from whatever tour we ended up doing on Monday…. Slight change of plans… So, we got sunburnt… I had to take it that one step further and go and get sunstroke, wasn’t happy with just looking like a lobster, decided I also had to act strangely and pass out in a restaurant before I was really satisfied. Apparently severe sunburn and dehydration can make you do embarrassing things. Mick took the opportunity during my split second of unconsciousness to steal my icecream, in amongst showing his concern of course. Although, ... read more

That's Vietnamese for 'how much is this?' which by the way I have no idea how to pronounce, and which also is fairly irrelevant cos I already know the answer will be 'cheap, very cheap' So we’re currently in Mui Ne, about 200kms north east of hcmc. Let me just get back to the ‘awesome’ bus again if I may…. I tell ya, that was seriously the most comfortable mode of transportation ever. The ‘sleeper bus’ as they’re called, well they didn’t have air con, but the windows opened so that was okay, are simply the best! Mick slept for just about the entire 4 hour journey while I got to spread out with my laptop and text books all over my bed. We were originally going to go by train with the assumption that it ... read more

Predictable title I know, but I’ve always wanted a purpose to say that! So, we are in HCMC, actually to be precise I am writing this from the worlds coolest bus, seriously, it’s a sleeper bus so its full of beds instead of seats, we’ve only been on here 10 minutes and mick is already snoring, (apart from the noise) I’m loving this bus. I actually wrote this huge blog last night, stayed up til the wee hours of the morning producing a flat out masterpiece and the damn site crashed as I pressed submit. I was not a happy camper (tanty began to brew) but have calmed down this morning and am determined to make it just as good. So I’ve been trying to come up with one word to sum up this place….busy? well ... read more

Okay, so we flew to Koh Samui for Aris and Erica's wedding, and let me say, it was honestly the best, most beautiful, amazing, cultural wedding we've ever been to. We were picked up late arvo and driven to our secret destination. It was a secluded beach (by the way, just so you know, i've had a few too many drinks tonight, and i'm typing this at around 1am thai time, 4.30am Aus time, so my eyes arent really open and i cant be bothered fixing spelling mistakes AND, i already typed this about 10 hours ago and somehow lost it, so i'm annoyed at having to do it again.) So anyway... where was I???? oh yeah secluded beach.... they had traditional thai dancing and drums, while the vowels took place on the sand, with the ... read more

Yes thats right, we're on holidays yet again, sooooo addictive, really need to get help, maybe some travel patches or hypnosis is required to make us stop?!?!? naaah! So.... we're back in colourful thailand, this time for a friends wedding in Koh Samui. We stopped over in KL (we love you Air Asia xx) for one night, then proceeded to Phuket for a few days before flying on to Koh Samui where we are right now. We pretty much covered KL in our last blog, so I wont go in to that again, as we almost covered the same footsteps. Come to think of it, we covered the same footsteps in Phuket too....several times over, but I doubt we'll ever tire of those steps. After getting absolutely blind drunk (on $20aud) within an hour of arriving ... read more

To all our loyal readers (fans) out there... (Hi Mum) We thought we might as well put our latest adventure up for the world to see. So, I'm feeling rather lazy and pressed for time, so you're going to get our whole trip in just one blog, so here goes.... We left Aus last Sunday and headed for Kuala Lumpur thanks to our new fave airline Air Asia and their unbelievably cheap fares (good for you Air Asia, we're sure to become regular customers.) It was an overnight flight, arriving in KL at 4am, urgh, not good, why do we never look like the celebs when they get off an onite flight, nope we had messy hair, sticky eyes and swollen legs, so yep, looking a treat. We decided since being experienced 'tubers' we'd navigate our ... read more

In the words of my dear old pop 'this is living man!' The contrasts of this great place have to be seen to be believed, but one thing is for sure (and this is the part that would have impressed old pop the most) there is beer for sale on every corner, in fact its more likely every metre, every corner would be a definite under estimate. Thus this means.....Dad is happy! (and possibly putting on extra weight...hmmm, excess baggage charge coming up??) So anyway, we've spent alot (I mean a LOT) of time relaxing (does eating, swimming, eating, drinking and eating class as relaxing???) We took a speed boat ride to Phi Phi Island, we hired mopeds and managed to tour the island for 2 days without becoming road kill and we have tried the ... read more

We do! We love you London, we do, oh London we love you......repeat and sing it louder this time.....We love you London, we do, we love you London, we do, oh London we love you!! Woohoo. Obviously we are finally back in London, and have just realised how much we love this place, compared to being detained in Spain, this place is Heaven. And I know I've said before that there is nothing on British TV, but try watching tv for a week with it all in a different language (yes we watched an entire movie in spanish, just staring at the screen and having bets on what they were actually saying) I'll take Emerdale and Corination St anyday. So anyway, after our spanish taxi driver sleeping in and so picking us up from the hotel ... read more

Boy, have we got a story for you, kick off your shoes, sit back and relax, this could be very long winded........... Okay, the beginning is as good a place to start as any, so we´ll go with that. Last tuesday we flew from Malta to the Pisa airport and then had a flight to Barcelona. When checking in at malta the rude baggage lady said she could not check our bags in all the way to barcelona even though we were flying with the same carrier, and that we would have to go through security, collect our baggage, check our bags in then go through security again, all within 15 minutes, as our next flight would then be closed for boarding.....are you following me so far?? (we assumed they would transfer our bags, which is ... read more

We have a winner!

Well its official, of all the European Counties we have visited during this last 12 months, Malta is the hands down winner for our fave. The people are the friendliest, the beaches are the bluest, the weather was the warmest and the food was the tastiest. Hows that for a good rap hey, well they deserve it. First of all let me say that it was nothing at all like the picture I had in my head of what Malta would be like. In some parts like Sliema where we stayed, it reminded us of queenslands sunshine coast, it was so commercialised and geared towards tourism, and the development thats going on there is unbelievable. Then there´s the parts like Valetta that remain mostly untouched and are heritage listed so they cant be touched. There´s so ... read more
