Happy Birthday, Cory
His new sign & new hat A very special day for a very special guy. Today is Cory's 72th birthday. Happy, Happy Birthday Big Guy! Where has the time gone? He was only 18 years old when we first met at the University of Buffalo. Just kids! We started out young and have grown old together. What a ride...what fun! I have been the luckiest gal on the face of the earth to have this precious, dear man as my husband and best friend. Luckeeeee. Our four children know they have the very best father ever. They always tell him that and how much they love him. His grandchildren also love him dearly. He loves Lulu (most of the time) and she loves him back...a lot! His first priority in life has always been to be a good "Family Man".....and that he has in ways more than words can express. He cherishes his family as we do him. He is devoted to his many friends. He would do anything for any of them. He is a loyal friend....a friend for life. He is a giver .....wanting nothing in return except friendship. Remember his toast: "There are Good Ships & Wood Ships but The Best Ships are Friendships!"
Happy Birthday, Cory, we love you!
Our family is slowly starting the exodus home. Today, our oldest daughter, Lory, and Jay and Sara left @ 11:00 AM. They are taking a flight back to New York out of the Sanford airport. Safe travels....we miss you already! See you in a few weeks.
Sam & Sandy came by to wish them farewell. They also surprised Cory with birthday gift. He was given a perfect NYPD cap which he promptly donned. I can see him utilizing this hat in more ways than one. Ever assertive?....NO! Wrapped nicely in the Orlando newspaper was his next present. OMG! So funny...so perfect. It is a long metal sign that reads: Cory Cory Answer Your Phone! Terrific. Cory loves it.....and loves Sam & Sandy, too. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and friendship.
I have to now share with you what the inscribed message means. When Cory first got his cell phone, he didn't always hear it ringing. Especially when I was calling him! We tried various ring tones but nothing. He keeps his phone in a case on his belt, not right next to his ear. Vibrate and the flashing light

The crusin' threesome offered no improvement. Finally, I knew what had to be done. I made a "personal" ringtone. It is me, my melodious, sweet voice calling serenely out: "Cory, Cory, Answer your telephone. Cory, Cory answer your phone....we are trying to reach you!" He always answers his phone now. It's perfect! Those who have been around him whenever he gets a call have been witness to this delightful ringtone. He tells about the time he was at a gambling crap table - winning....and I called him on his phone! My beautiful soothing ringtone blasted from his hip. The pit boss came over and grabbed him by the neck, pulling him away from the table. He told Cory he was not allowed to have any electronic devices at the table. Of course, he had been winning so he went back to the table. An honest player next to him had saved his pile of chips for him so he managed to come out a winner! Yeah! Give him a call.....I will always be there for you to insure he answers your call.
Yesterday, some of our family made the trip over to the Eye of Orlando. Jim & Jay were playing golf....neither
Inside the Eye of Orlando gondola
Shenen & Lory, Sara, Tim, Conner, Cory, Fox, Cory a fan of heights. Kim and the 2 Haleys wanted to stay by their pool and get some sun. The skies have not been cooperative with this plan. So, Tim, Conner, Cory, Fox, Shenen, Lory, Sara and Cory and me (and Lulu) loaded up a couple cars for this adventure. They all loved the monster Ferris Wheel "The Eye of Orlando". It never gets too old for Cory and me...this is our 3rd time in the eye in the sky. They all went into the Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum and The SeaLife Aquarium. Cory & I rested at the food court. And didn't eat a thing because we were saving ourselves for the World's Largest McDonald's.
They recently tore down the previous McDonald's (still the largest) and reconstructed a brand new one. It was impressive. Obviously, huge! You order everything on a touch tone screen. They deliver the food to your table. They still have the gourmet section but it is only pizza and pastas now. They have a separate dessert section. On the 2nd level, more seating but the big draw is the hundreds of Arcade games. Loud and crazy. Of course, Conner (and Tim) voted this the
best part of the place.
A bad thunderstorm with black skies exploded after we left to go back to the condos. Mother Nature has been just plain mean this whole week. Boo to you, MN. After we all gathered within the protection of the sturdy walls of the condos while the storm did its thing, we positioned ourselves in front of my iPad.
We had made plans to FaceTime with Cory's youngest sister, Cris. She lives in Chico, California. She is a professor at Chico State and has accomplished much in her lifetime with many high honors and accolades. Google her to see what I mean: Cris Guenter, Ph.D. Each family had their session in front of this wonderful technical machine. To allow all of us to be able to actually "be with" Cris was terrific. Some of the grandchildren she had not even met before. An excellent family reunion! Great seeing and visiting with you, Cris. Let's do it again sometime!
Today (30th), Cory, Fox & Shenen have soared to Cocoa Beach in their nice, red cruising machine. As Pat Boone sang: "With the wind in their faces and hopeful not the rain". The Mustang convertible
makes the three of them very cool dudes. Have fun, guys!
Good Grief! It's raining again. What is going on...this is not May and I haven't seen one May flower. Mother Nature is not going to be welcome around our May Pole. Lulu is disgusted with her.
We are heading over to the condos......Tim & Conner want to hit the outlet mall. Plans are to go tonight to the Ale House for Cory's birthday celebration. Sounds great. Hope you can join us. We'll save you seat.
