Cooking steaks
Cory, Cory, Jay, Jim Not missing a beat, we continue to enjoy and appreciate all our moments together as a family.
Sunday - it was agreed upon that we would do a birthday dinner party; celebrating the birthdays of Cory Fritz-son(March 13), Cory Edward-father(March 30) and Shenen-grandson(April 8). We had a wonderful dinner. Perfect, tender steaks cooked by the men, tossed salad with my Cherry Pocket homemade house dressing, macaroni salad (mine), French fries, chicken tenders, rolls. Absolutely delicious. There were 3 cakes: a yellow, a chocolate and a chocolate chip cookie cake. We filled ourselves to the brim and beyond. No one left hungry!
We all sang, loudly, "Happy Birthday" to the three honored guys. They had their time to make a wish and blow out the few candles on the various cakes. Cory E. came in last. I guess he isn't filled with hot air after all. They opened their presents as we oooo'd and aaaaah'd. Lulu loves a party. She loves to sing, also. Her voice is actually more melodious than the rest of us. Kind of a background humming sound. Pretty.
Today (Monday) all the family went to Universal Studios except for Cory & myself. We have already
Family dinner
Needed two tables been there twice this season and that's enough. They could enjoy the parks very well without us. They bought "2-park-1 day" tickets. It's ridiculous and terrible what the price of these tickets are now. The cost increased even more this year. I feel sorry for those families that have to scrimp and save for years to bring their family here or to Disney. Parking, alone, is $20 and the tickets are @ $185 for the ones the our kids bought. Forget the food, drinks and souvenirs. But as long as the masses continue to come, the prices will only keep increasing. Buy stock in these parks??.....think about it.
No matter, they all had a fun time trolling the 2 parks (Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios). They actually we able to get on some of the big rides. We figured with it being Easter week, they wouldn't stand a chance .....except maybe for one ride. The weather was overcast and threatening all day. They took ponchos but never had to use them except on the water rides. That was good. Amazing that one section of this area can have a major downpour while another end gets nothing! Late afternoon,
they had had enough and headed back to their condos.
After a brief rest, some of them still had some strength and stamina to come over to the Knapp's condo. The "guys" (Tim, Conner, Cory, Fox,Shenen) stayed back at the timeshare condo. The Fabers and Knapp's were still going strong. We met them at Lory & Jay's and we all walked up to Old Town/Fun Spot so the girls could go on the monster, terrible, scary rides. The rides make me nauseous just looking at them. Lulu feels the same. That didn't change their daring ways. Sara and Haley 2 went on the deadly plunge ride called the Sky Coaster. It is a mega bungee drop of 300 feet. Yikes! I'm amazed they don't get off it with grey hair....it is an unbelievable, frightening, terrible ride experience. BUT they liked it! From there we went past the Vomatron over to the Sling Shot ride. Here Haley & Haley 2 were strapped into two seats and shot sky high into the heavens. Crazy! Puke! They bounced and rocked back and forth until their seats finally reached the ground. Sara had done this ride last year. We can only appreciate the
fact that they survived these horrendous ventures.
One last stop: Flippers. They ordered pizzas and breadsticks to take back to their condos. Who could even have an appetite after going on these rides as well as just watching them? But we did ....Cory & I got some breadsticks, too.
While the kids were all at Universal Studios, Sam & Sandy came over to our RV for a welcomed visit. We decided we all needed to make a Walmart run so in the car we piled. The Walmart greeter "Stan" still remembered us. The store was packed! While inside, we could hear the torrential thunder storm begin. It eased off a tad when we exited but Cory provided umbrella protection for the twosome as they came back to our car.
Lunchtime.....where to go? We decided on Freddy's Steakburger place that Cory & I had been to previously. It was okay for them but we'll find another spot next time. We all came back to the RV. The rain has made everything around us wet and drippy. We were able to sit outside for awhile, though. It was muggy but every now and then, a nice breeze passed through
which seemed so refreshing. Sam & Sandy left @ 4:30 and we just waited for the family to come over for the Old Town experience.
We aren't done yet. More things to do and more places to go. Catch a rest when you can. We'll go to Tropical Palms Tuesday morning coffee at 9:00 AM. This will be the last of the "coffee's" for this season. Many of our friends have now left for home. Our numbers have dwindled. Until next year.......when the gangs back and all here! Our plans will be to leave Tropical Palms @ mid April. No definite date set yet. We just take it a day at a time. You do the same.....okay?
