In my new found appreciation for ducks I decided to post up a picture of a duck I saw at the fountain in Trafalgar square in London.
Hello Everyone,
I have some very exciting ( to me) news! About 3 years ago when I was in my junior year at the art institute I was making one of my regular trips to the aquarium. I had my video camera with me as I was planning to get some footage of some jellyfish to use in a video project. I was outside the aquarium walking around the edge of Lake Michigan when I saw a duck in the water. It was near a rock trying to eat some algea off of it but the waves in the water kept sweeping the duck away from the rock. So it was paddling like mad with it's little neck outstreched bill clacking madly attempting to eat the algae. It was obviously getting irritated but it was not giving up as it circled around and around the rock getting little bill fulls of algae. It was really cute. And I had my camera so I video taped it doing this. A little while later I was watching Planet's Funniest Animals on Animal Planet and they said that they were taking tapes of funny animal clips. If your tape was accepted they would

send you 100$ and a free t-shirt. After watching the clips on the show I figured that my clip was animal planet gold because some of the clips they had weren't very funny. So I sent in the tape and a few weeks later I got back a contract in the mail, it was from Animal Planet and I just had to sign it so that they could air it. They said it would take some time to get a show together so it may be a couple of months. So I sent back the contract and waited for my 100$ and free shirt to come rolling in. Nothing happened. And everytime I watched animal planet I got madder and madder because I thought they had just taken my tape without sending me anything in return. I was sure that one day I would see my little duck on tv but I never did. But then just yesterday 3 YEARS later I got an email on my old school account from Animal Planet! They said that they wanted to use my duck eating algae clip that I sent in some years ago and they wanted my address so they could send me the 100$ and free shirt! So I emailed them back and they are sending the goods right away to me! It was not a problem that I am in New Zealand. I am very excited about this!!!! They said that they would let me know when the show is going to air in the states so I will post it up in case anyone wants to watch it! Unfortunately they didn't know when it would air in NZ because there is a big delay but that is ok because I don't have cable so I don't get animal planet anyway. Yay for ducks!!!

Ducks
At Last! I had given up too but now we will be able to watch the determined duck. (Child's book possibility?) Let us know when it will be on and we'll attempt to video the show. Or better, we'll ask Maribeth to videotape it. Love, Mom
