Hi Loyal Followers,
So today was our last day in China!!! 😞 It has been amazing, we have only been to two other countries so far but its stood out as the best by far!!! We have enjoyed all the history (there is so much), all the new modernisation of the country (too fast really as the gap between the poor and the rich is huge), and the food of course (not noodles though well pre-packed pot noodles!!).
We were still in Zhongshan, but had not booked any way of getting to Hong Kong (forward thinking people). We checked out of our hotel and managed to sort out the bill, and get them to write down the bus station name for a taxi, after a massive £1.75 taxi we got to the bus station and managed to get booked on a coach leaving in 20 mins!! WOO HOO!! I was in a great mood and it was 10am so we had a breakfast beer, it was delicious!!!
It was only meant to be a 2 hours coach but it turned into a 3 1/2 hour journey with immigration (Hong Kong people are
ruder than the Chinese, who would have thought it, arseholes!!) Once through we finally made it to Hong Kong!!!
So we were staying at the comfort hostel in Causeway Bay, We had to find this Peterson Building hidden between the Burberry shop and some other!! (we are right in the middle of everything!!! We are sharing with an English guy and Scottish guy both have been asleep 95% of the time since we got here!!
We headed out and had a look around the area close to us. There are loads of top end shops around us which is nice (window shopping sucks plus Vick loves to look at them all, a womens' right she tells me). We went for lunch and broke our rules, we had a Mc Donald's as Vick was still not sure what to eat after being poorly and fancied it. She felt even worse after though. I was happy as it was nice to have western food but it didn't agree with Vick so she needed a lie down after 😞 I read until Vick was back and feeling better!!
We planned to go to Victoria
Peak, access was by a special tram that has been there for 100+ years, there are photos of the history on here. It was good, however, like normal everything has extras, so once up the top, the access to the viewing platform was extra but lucky we avoided it as the weather was bad and misty as hell (smoggy) so we were very happy!!! We had dinner in the Mak's Noddles, it was in lonely planets suggested places, all I can say is BOOOO!!! it was poor, in our worst 3 meals so far!!!(Thanks lonely planet, my opinion not Vicks) We decided to walk down from the peak, it was a good decision as the views walking down were amazing!! It took about 1 1/2 to walk down but well worth it!! We made it down and headed to SoHo (Hong Kong Soho of course).
SoHo was pumping we had to get the metro there, which is how we got to everywhere else today (I forgot to mention that), every bar was packed and one we found down this little alley was so good, a Cuban/salsa bar, however the drink were £7 which would be ok just
not on our budget!!! 😞 After walking around we worked out we were in an area near SoHO, I felt silly but it was still amazing. We found this amazing looking Vietnamese place, which we are going to tomorrow!!
We headed back very tired and happy for our days work. We found our room mates asleep (like normal), when we got back we showered and watched a spooks (well half Vick was falling asleep) before bed!!!
Thats everything for today!! Thanks everyone for following us and reading this!! Love N&V X
