Merry Christmas to all of our family and friends back home! We have arrived in Rome safely via train from Florence..this train was coming down from Venice so naturally by the time it got to us, "others" were in our seats and refused to move. This lady was full blown panic that she could not sit next to her husband and kids. Had she asked instead of instructing us where to sit and putting us 3 rows apart - I would have obliged. In any case we found 2 empty seats further down the car but I warned her - if someone comes from them - we are coming back ;0)

Outside the train station - we came across this older man - who insisted to taxi us - against better judgement, we said OK - we felt bad - christmas, older - needed money etc.. - anyway.. you guessed it - he tried to charge us 30 euro for practically going around the corner.. i said 20 - which was still way to much for the ride, should have been 5 euro - I told him he's lucky it's Christmas..but even after that he proceeded to tell me I only gave him 5 euros and I owed him 15 more!! greedy little man!! I read about that bait and switch with these drivers so I knew what he was up to.. Alberto is in awe of the hotel and is like whatever - give him 30 it's Christmas - omgg, grrrr... sorry - principle - I refused..

And the stress is gone because this hotel is the most regal, elegant, beautiful hotel we have ever stayed in.. it is oozing luxury from every corner and selfishly - we are loving every minute of it. Yes, me and "Mr.Daly" are instantly happy! It is amazing, awesome and not the "snobby" atmosphere that I thought we might encounter.

We hurried upstairs to check out the room - set our things down and headed out for some Christmas day exploring. It turns out that the big holiday is Christmas Eve and all of the families come out for walks and movies on Christmas day afternoon. There are a lot more places opened then we thought and we can actually grab a decent bite to eat.

We retired back to the room early because we are anticipating a busy busy day tomorrow!

Travel through your eyes!
You are so correct! I am very happy with your blog! I'm traveling through your eyes!! Seeing these beautiful cities!! And of course seeing both of you!! I'm so mad at those people on the train and the taxi old man!! You find a jerk everywhere!!! Absolutely, you had to stand your grounds being a "tourist" does not equal "idiot". Imbecils!! In Cuba our big day was also Christmas Eve, movies etc.. on Christmas Day, since we celebrate on January 6, the "three kings day" which is when the gifts are exchanged and it is "them" who leave the presents under the tree. Love and kisses! We are all good. I'm sick again, sore throat, etc... but managing, thank God. :0)
