So last night we had a relatively painless flight to Majorca however it was full of hens and stag groups very drunk and making ALOT of noise! I got picked up at 12pm by a driver from bens work and met him in the car only to realise id left my togs at home so raced home to get them. Whew! Other than that we arrived safely in Majorca and realised we hadn’t booked a transfer and all the transfer desks said we had to have 2 hours before so 70 euro taxi it was. Meh! An hour later we arrived at our hotel and got kinda dropped off just outside on the road and were so confused where to go as our hotel was spread over about 4 complexes! Eventually we sorted it out, explored a bit loving our new home for the next 5 days and then headed out to try and find something for dinner. Our lil town was called Porto Colom and was a very old fishing village, very quiet, with few tourists and very Spanish! We love it! We sat outside at 9pm in the sun as it was going down and had a great dinner topped off by the fact that our placemat had a sukodu game on it and we were each given a pen! I zoomed ahead and carelessly screwed it up as per usual so ben took it out (a trend for the rest of the trip!) yet at a very slow pace! It was dark by the time we left and his phone light was having to help him out!

So, this am we had about a 10 hour sleep which was sooo needed for both of us, lazed around a bit and realised we were gonna maybe miss breakie so wandered over to the private area of the hotel overlooking the marina where they served the buffet breakie that our deal included. Good variety of hot food and continental so we stocked up our tums, put some treats in the lil rubbish bag on our table and swiped them off with us! On the way out we saw a pool table there in the sun but unfortunately there were people already playing. Tomorrow. So we headed back upstairs, skyped the family cos I had bought my lil laptop (which was a great idea if i must say so myself), had showers, togs on a lathered up with sunscreen for a morning by the pool. Well to be fair by the time we got there it was midday! Ben decided he was gonna be proactive and write a blog (Ireland 17th march – yes still not posted!) so despite my shock I was not getting in his way. About 5 hours later he re-appeared from his shot in the shade with a very precisely written blog!! We swam and sunbathed for the rest of the arvo with lunch by the pool in between till 4pm when we were scheduled to play tennis. Before playing we found a supermerkat (your guess) and stocked up on some goodies and had two smashing finds – Haribo Chispa Cola lollies and Twister iceblocks! Both amazing!! We then headed to the tennis court in the scorching heat. I have not played tennis since my fantastic effort in the Sunshine coast in 2007 and there is a reason for that! I had warned Ben as had mum how bad I was but I actually didn’t think i was too bad. I connected racquet and ball more often than not and only hit the ball over the top of the cage onto the road twice and over the top into the other court twice!! Not bad! Once we both had sun stroke and were knackered we headed inside to chill out in air conditioning and watch some real tennis players!!

We decided to tripadvisor a good place to have dinner in Porto Colom and found a place which had really good reviews, google mapped it and it was apparantley 35secs away!! We looked out our window and yep it was the place just below our room!! Fantastic that would not require much effort on our behalf!! On the reviews it said owners lovely lovely so friendly over and over so we expected loveliness and friendliness plus plus!! And got it we did! This charming man by the name of tommy with a curled up at the edges, thick, white moustache approached us, shook our hands and then proceeded to look after us all night. He recommended a hideously strong cocktail to start which we both struggled to drink, followed by “the best paella in Majorca”. Huge and was really yummy with a lot of fresh seafood!! We then got complementary fresh fruit and shots of pina colada – his specialty! We shook his hand, I had fallen in love with him and was wishing I was related to him and we were already planning a review for trip advisor! He claimed he would see us tomorrow! And he just might!!

A good solution in Majorca
Few years ago i was in Mallorca, instead of a taxi rented a car to commute more easily to the places it was a good idea. I also found a cheap stay: santa ponsa apartments
