Old Railroad Bridge
Looking across the span in Bahia Honda. The side we were on was quite clean and well maintained. Not so with the other side. You can see concrete crumbling and rust.Friday was another lazy Keys day. We slept late then dawdled over breakfast before going to the old railroad bridge at Bahia Honda. The water was beautiful and from the bridge you could see most of the island and parts of the Seven Mile Bridge in the distance. We went down to Loggerhead beach, where the water was calmer than the last few days, but the sea grass was 2’ deep on the beach, making it a bit ugly. We went to the snack bar and cooled off with popsicles before driving down to Sandspur Beach at the northern end of Bahia Honda Key. It, too, was covered in sea grass, but the breeze was nice coming off the water. We sat in the shade of a picnic pavilion and enjoyed the fresh air, the gorgeous water of the Atlantic, and the antics of the seagulls.
Saturday morning we closed up the camper and moved back to Curry Hammock SP. After setting up again, we went back into town to buy a few groceries. For supper it was back to the Hurricane Grille, where we both had mahi. Kerry had a basket with fries, I had baked with a crab

as viewed from the bridge stuffing topping and the best lobster bisque I have ever had. Then back to Kmart for some necessities before back to camp.
Sunday morning late I sliced up cheese and summer sausage and mixed up a bowl of guacamole to take to Key Colony Beach after the ball game. They have live music in the park on Sundays from 4 to 6 and Alex and Cindy asked us to go along with them. There was another good turnout for the softball game, though not as many as before. The weather was kind of questionable all day, changing from clouds to mostly clear and back again, threatening rain, but not delivering. The group singing and playing at the park had a great sound and the woman singing had a great voice. Unfortunately, the weather finally made up its mind and starting raining, which ended the music. We went to Alex and Cindy’s and spent a pleasant evening eating the snacks we had prepared and laughing and telling tales.
Today we hit some of the souvenir joints and went down to Sombrero Beach. It’s been quite windy today, making Kerry edgy. The camper sides make popping sounds in the wind.

as seen from the old rr bridge at Bahia Honda We had lunch at Fish Tales, enjoying their shrimp and crab salad on croissant. Tonight we went to Keys Fisheries where we both had their famous lobster reubens, although Kerry had them hold the kraut on his. The sandwiches are quite large; we should have split one and then had some key lime pie for dessert.
Tomorrow we break camp in the morning before heading to the ball field for the 10 o’clock game. Then it’s back north to Miami Springs.

Looks so beautiful
Hey guys, sounds like you're really enjoying yourselves. The pics are great and we have pretty much decided we'll probably go to the keys before trying to cross over to the Babamas. We're in Titusville! Had an eerie déjà vu moment expecting to see you guys pop around the corner as Charlie was maybe taking pics of the manatees. Only have seen a couple but hope to have some good sightings today. We're on their new mooring field, on $15/night. Take good care and stay in touch. Mark
