Arunachala, as we know, is amongst the oldest pieces of land on earth today, as has been confirmed by geologists. Scientists say that it dates back to the very creation of the Earth. The hill is said to be Siva manifest.
Eminent Scientists have established the Deccan plateau to be the oldest land of the earth.
It is interesting to note what an American geologist states: „Arunachala should have been thrown up by the earth under the stress of some violent volcanic eruption in the dim ages before even the coal bearing strata were formed. This rocky mass of granite may be dated back tot he earliest epoch of the history of our planet´s crust, that epoch which long preceded the vast sedimentary formations in which fossils records of plants and animals have been preserved. It existed long before the gigantic saurians oft he prhistoric world moved ther ungainly forms through the primeva forests that
covered our early earth. It was contemporaneous with the formation of the very crust of earth itself. Arunachala was almorst as hoary an das ancient as our planetary home itself.“
´Aruna' means the rising Sun, the Sun God who illuminates the whole world and 'Achala'is serene or that which cannot be moved. The hill therefore represents the source of Enlightment.
The Hill stands for spiritual knowledge. Arunachala ist he Light of Consciousness they sang… Arunachala ist he Supreme Self – Lord Siva´s Auspicious Form.
´Aruna ´ means red, bright like fire; the fire is not ordinary fire that is only hot. This is gnan-agni (fire of wisdom) which is neither hot nor cold. 'Achala' is a hill, immoveable. So it means Hill of Wisdom. This Hill is said to be wisdom in visible form.
To describe Arunachala ist to describe the Self and the Self is indescribable as the Supreme Being. To know Arunachachala ist o experience Arunachala.
The devotee who circumambulates the Hill on a Sunday penetrates the region oft he Sun and attains Liberation. He gains the world of Shiva. He who circumambulates the hill on a Monday lives free from the afflictions of old age and death. He who circumambulates the Hill on a Tuesday is released from all debts and becomes an emperor. If pradakshina is done on Wednesday, he becomes omniscient and wise; on Thursday, he is worshipped by all the devas and attains fame as a guru. Circumambulation on a Friday brings prosperity and takes him tot he abode of Vishnu; a Saturday pradakshina brings worldly success and averts the ill-effects threatened by the planets in one´s horoscope. If those who suffer from physical and mental ailments, as well as those who are weak and emaciated, circumambulate Me, their ailments are cured. –Skanda MahaPuranam-
Yama Lingam (Yama is the hindu god of Death - Tod)
Nirudhi Lingam (Nirudhi is the king of the Asuras or the demons and he jointly rules the southern realm along with his friend, Yama)
Surya Lingam (Sun – Sonne)
Varuna Lingam (Varuna the king of appreciation and enjoyment God oft he Rain and all waters – Wasser)
Vayu Lingam (Vayu the lord of the open spaces is the god of wind-Luft)
Kubera Lingam (Kubera is the god of wealth and prosperity – Fülle)
Esanya Lingam (Isanyar is one of the 7 seven Rudras of Shiva - Loslassen von allem Weltlichen)
Agni Lingam ( Agni the God of Fire – Feuer)
Liebe Grüße an Euch
alle!
