Tuesday, February 28, is the national holiday of Andalucia. The Spaniards create a “Puente” and take off Monday as well so I had a four day weekend to travel! I flew out of Seville with 6 other girls to explore the city of Barcelona. The timing was perfect as it was right after exams. Which, by the way, thank you for all the prayers because I was very prepared.
With amazing connections of one of my friends, we stayed in a beach house right outside of Barcelona in Sitges. The village is 35 Km south of Barcelona, right on the Mediterranean coast. It is full of vacation homes and during the Spanish holiday there was a carnival going on. This area is also popular for gay communities, so that was quite shocking.
Over the weekend I visited Poble Espanol, La Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera, Parc Guel, Plaza de Espana, Barcelona’s art museum, and of course Sitges. I was really impressed with Gaudi’s influence in Barcelona. I got the audio guide for La Sagrada Familia and I was so struck with how religious Gaudi was. It makes me wonder what he really believed. I hope all his years of work were meant to glorify God rather than being a waste.

I had a major blessing during this trip. I lost my credit card and international ID card sometime in the midst of the rainy Sunday. I really had no idea what had happened. I was able to call my mom to ask her to cancel my credit card. But, amazingly enough on Monday we went to the same café for breakfast and I happened to ask about my cards. Behold, the waiter pulled out both of my cards. I excitedly told him they were mine and he told me he was very happy for me. It was such a blessing to get them back. The credit card was already cancelled, but my ID is very important here.

The whole trip was so nice. Getting a chance to have our own place where all of us could hang out was the best part. We were able to cook some meals and watch Spanish television. Also, since Barcelona is a richer city than Seville it is more common to have heat in the house. Therefore, I not only had hot showers but I got to stay in a heated house! God has blessed me so much on my excursions!

Hey Em
I thought it was so cute in the Hanging out picture. I had to look twice because I KNEW you wouldn't be sitting on the ground even if you were hanging out in Barcelona! hehe. I am glad you got to take hot showers!
