Temp: 34°C - muggy
Day 34 started early, we had to have bags to coach by 7:45 so breakfast was a muslibar.
We drove for about an hour before a quick restroom stop then jumped back on the bus for about another 2hrs or so (in which christina put on the DVD Walk the Line because of where we went yesterday) to our lunch break stop. We stopped in Jackson, the capital of Mississippi, they had a groceries store, hairdresser but the best thing was a deli. Yay, something semi healthy for lunch! I got a chicken ceaser wrap, it was so good and it came with a free side of mashed potato and gravy...mmm. We went and bought some 'aeroguard' at the supermarket as everyone was being eaten by mozzies (touch wood, personally ive managed to avoid them so far!) but we are heading out to the swamp tomorrow, probably best not to push my luck!!
When we boarded the coach after lunch Christina, our Contiki TM, said “i hear a rumour that we have a birthday on Contiki today, Michelle, where are you, come up the front'
I made my way down to be presented with a shot
Birthday Girl!
With my bday card signed by everyone and my princes set i had to wear haha glass that says “Hit me, its my birthday” to which Christina said i have to have 25 shots.. why cant i be younger?!?! she also gave me a princess set, it was plastic silver with pink diam antes, earrings and a tiara haha of which i apparently have to wear all night so the people of New Orleans know it my birthday. Oh boy.
We drove abit longer as we passed into our 3 state for the day, we left Tennessee, crossed through Mississippi and then into Louisiana. We also passed through the town of Kentwood, Louisiana, the home of Britney Spears before driving abit further onto New Orleans. Im homage to Britney, Christina played her for the remainder of the trip.
The above bit ive written on the coach while driving to NO, the below will be what follows...tbc
the continuation..
so we arrived in New Orleans with plenty of time to get ready to go out. We got dolled up, i even chucked on the crown (though i really didnt want to!) We jumped on the cable car and got off to walk to the riverwalk where we were to board our river cruise. It
Sleeping on the bus
In the isle... it's more comfortable than you'd think! was a old steam paddle boat thing, quite pretty. this went for about 2.5hrs before we docked and walked up to Bourban Street. First stop: Pat O'briens.
Pat O'briens was a lil outdoor place where i had the first couple of shots and our first drink, Hurricane.
Hurricane recipe
1 oz vodka
1/4 oz grenadine syrup
1 oz gin
1 oz light rum
1/2 oz Bacardi® 151 rum
1 oz amaretto almond liqueur
1 oz triple sec
grapefruit juice
pineapple juice
Thats the recipe but above but i still think it was twice the amount of alcohol in it.
A few more shots and we moved on to our second location: Tropical Isle.
Tropical Isle is the home of the Hand Grenade.
Below is the wikipedia explanation of the Hand Grenade.
A hand grenade is a strong alcoholic cocktail drink. It was first made at the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition. It is sold at four locations in the French Quarter in New Orleans and through mail order and the Internet. The recipe, trademark, and licenses of the product are owned by 721 Bourborn, Inc. The "hand grenade" consists of 1 1/2 ounces of rum, gin,
vodka, grain alcohol, and melon liquor served over crushed ice and garnished with mint.
Enough said. After everyone had one of these the photos went down hill.
It was after this, back at the hotel that i did my knee.
We were in someones room and while attempting to get on the bed i twisted my body, but not my foot, popping my knee out of place. Goodness knows the damage i have done.
