campsite beach
same as yesterday but at low tide Day 7, Sunday
The sun was bright so it was a day to ride despite the wind. I climbed out of bad with a sore lower left back. Did I sleep funny? Oh, I bet it's from picking up the bike yesterday morning. When loading the bike in the morning I approached the ramp on too much of an angle and when I stopped I had no footing. A bruise to my ego and the ramp but thankfully no damage to the bike.
I gassed up in Caraquet and headed East. I wanted to ride to the tip of Miscou Island. I rode down to road 113 and headed straight to the lighthouse. I've never been really far North but this is what I would expect to see. Not much foliage, mostly scrub. Is it too harsh a climate? Maybe the ground water is too salty?
This is a fishing area for sure. Lots of fishing boats in port. Small Maritime type homes.
On the way back I circle Lameque Island. First the North West then the South East. There are some evergreen trees here but nothing over about 25 feet. Lameque is the biggest town here. Groceries and gas along
with a few restaurants.
Further South in Shippagan I pull into the marina for a picture of the lift bridge. The gentleman on the Canadian Ocean and Fisheries ship and I exchange nods and I carry on to Le Goulet. I did'nt see Robert but there is more or newer money here. Larger 1950/60 style bungalow house are the norm here.
The skies are getting dark with the type of clouds that brought yesterday's thunderstorm and my neck is sore from fighting the wind so I gas up again in Inkerman and grab HWY 11 back to Caraquet.

great excursion Cameron
Cam, looks like your enjoying your excursion. Down in New Brunswick there are quite a few really great restaurants that I have only heard about. Enjoy the province! We are enjoying the blog. Love the pictures
