It’s 7 AM I’m sitting on the end of the bed, the doors are open and I’m looking out over the valley of Piedmont. Birds are singing, church bells are ringing and slight breeze is blowing. I’m writing this to ensure that I never forget this moment of closeness to god and everything around me.
We ate breakfast at the B&B, and while sitting we observed an older picture. After studying we decided it represented the 7 deadly sins. We weren’t sure but we thought it was.
We started where we left off on the Strada Romantica, as we visited station number nine we saw the same picture of the 7 people in different situations. Yes they represented the 7 deadly sins. It is a fresco painted at the chapel St Roco.
We completed the last station close to lunch and we had a snack to carry us over. We set our sights on the coast. We headed to the city of Savona once we arrived we found that it was market day. We quickly parked the car and headed to the market to get fresh fruit and bread. We also found the chicken guy and bought two pieces of roasted
chicken. We immediately went to the park close by and inhaled our chicken. It was so good…..
I have always wanted to revisit Genoa because the last time we were here it was very late and we left early. I read up on it in the DK book and it sounded very good. Kirsten was agreeable and we headed that way. Well let me tell you, Genoa in the day time is worst than at night. I couldn’t get out of there quick enough.
At this time I want to thank Kirsten for not saying “I told you so”, because she had every right.
Upon leaving Genoa, we headed along the coast which was beautiful. Once we came upon Recco we turned east and headed up into the mountain city of Usico we found a B&B names after momma, La Marguerite. We are sitting here looking at over the mountains and between the two ridges you see the ocean. I’m relaxing, drink a glass of wine and thinking about nothing.
Our hosts tried to make dinner reservations for us, but alas it is Monday and most things are closed. They offered to share their dinner with us. Man, were we
lucky!!! They set up dinner on our balcony. We had our own wine. They served us this wonderful pasta with pesto and lots of cheese as a first course. They then served a broiled fish filet with capers, onions and sage along with fresh shrimp! Next came dessert of fresh strawberries and a meringue cookie. And to top it all off……a lemoncello, made from the lemons in their back yard.
What a wonderful ending to a great day.
Heaven, yes heaven.

Wow.....
You guys do live the life! When you get back, you need to come see what Angie has done to this house. It actually looks like a house now that the spare bedrooms have been painted. We are putting chair and crown moulding throughout the house and getting rid of that crappy popcorn. Enjoy yourself and drink as much of that good wine as you want. G
