in answer to suzies question alas the top deck was cattle class but it did have extra leg room !!
its just gone 9.30pm here and i'm sitting in a lovely A/C room in the lovelyest of hotels , they even remember my name.
ive just got back from Khoa san Road again, ive had my toe and finger nails painted this eve, and soaked up the fab atmosphere there, i wanted to sit and have a cheeky cocktail in a bar but i felt this was prob a step to soon !!!! dont panic mum and marilyn i am sensible 😊
so today i walked to the river and caught a boat and went up and down the whole of the river, saw lots of sights, it was lovely and cool, coz believe me its very sticky here !! then i got the skytrain to a place called Jim Thompsons house, he was an american who fell in love with Thailand after the war and restarted the Thai silk trade. his house is gorgious, its totally made of teak and has the most amazing garden. Then it was lunch time so i had a lovely light rice dish and
a mango smoothie that gave me brain freeze !!
Then i got a local, and i mean local canal boat (i think there was only one or two other westerners on it) this was a tricky operation getting on and off as there is no gang plank or anything not even a bar to grab hold of, you just step off the sidewalk onto the seat your going to sit on. I tried to be as dignified as i could ...... and yes i think i may have heard one or two giggles around me. I loved this 10 minute trip as all along the canal are houses (well huts) and the people that live in them are all going about their day, ive got a few pics that i will attempt to uplaod/download ???
Anyway .... then returend to the hotel and got chatting to a lovely danish girl who was giving me lots of tips of where to go and not to go. Then it was off to buy my train ticket to Chiang Mai on the 5th, an overnight sleeper, VERY SAFE I PROMISE mum / marilyn
so in a nutshell ..... (well why
say one word when a paragraph will do) ... walk, river boat, skytrain, canal boat, walk
and tomorrows another day .........
p.s i cant seem to get a Thai sim card to work on my phone, so ill have to sort something out
right i'm about to attempt to put these pics on , so night night and thank you all so much for the great messages xxxxxxxx
