Salvador
City skyline from the boat to Morrow When you need a break from partying, Morro de Sao Paulo is the place to go.
We got a cheap flight from Rio to Salvador, worked out cheaper than the bus. The flight(Webjet), got us there in 2 hours as opposed to 25 hours on the bus. Stayed in Salvador for one night, its a big city, don't know what the fuss is all about.
However, we were intending on going to Morro De Sao Paulo so we only stayed here for one night. Morrow de Sao Paulo is an island two hours from the coast of Salvador.
We got the boat from the port, and it was easily accessed by using the street lifts. Yes, actually an elevator in the city that bring you between the higher and lower streets, its great, no dragging of rucksacks anywhere, easy and that's the way we like it.
Luckily, we were in Morro in off season which meant we could stay in a Pousada for basically nothing, the rooms cost us e12 each a night and we were right on the beach. Apparently in February this place is jammers. Plenty of places to eat and you can sit on the beach by night
Boat to Morro
The 3 of us on the boat and the caipirihna come to you, thanks to Jeff who was running around all night getting us our drinks, even Claire got a job (see pictures). We met Theresa and Kathy from Birmingham who we spent the entire week with.
All of us took a boat trip around the island for a day, nice and cheap too. One of the islands we stopped at we got mud baths, that is us girls, although we were not submerged into mud, we had to cover ourselves in it. It basically was different coloured sands that were removed from a specfic cliff face, great exfoliant, some locals do this every day.
After mud bathing (lol) we got down to the serious business of drinking caipirihna againnnnn, even when it rained, it didn't stop us or the bar staff(see pictures) from enjoying this chassa and lime drink.
We ended the day with a quick game of football with some Brazilians that were on the trip with us. Claire even tackled and won the ball for an entire 30 seconds, woo hoo.
Highly recommend this island for a relaxing trip, we stayed at Isle de Sol - super, great breakfast and really nice helpful
