Rock n Roll Well as you know we started out at 6am, so we were all tired but ready to hit the highway. So once we found our way out of LA, we headed towards 'Death Valley' which is an area you can drive to heading towards Las Veags.
It was a hot enough day to begin with, but it got even hotter as the day went along. We finally got to the main road that lead through Death Valley and from the views we knew it was going to be a cool drive. It was pretty much just hot hot hot desert there and we could see for miles ...no life wat so ever. The road lead down to a place called 'Badwater basin' which is actually the lowest point in the western hemisphere (rather cool ei) which we didnt realise till we got there, 85 metres below sea level. It was soooooooo hot at this place and the car told us that it was around 87 degrees F! Now that is hot people, I was properly burning up when we got out of the car. Apparently it can get over 50 degrees C there quite regularly.
After this we
passed what is called the 'Devils Golf course'...which sadly was not a real course as me and Andy were ready to play. We even saw some sand dunes which was a first for me, and I have never seen anything like it...they just seemd huge.
After this terribly long drive we finally arrived in Las Vegas around 4.30pm...this meant we had driven for around 10hours, hardcore or what?! Las Vegas seemed cool once we arrived but it seemd tacky in the daylight. We were staying at the Luxor hotel and it was fantasticly huge. The main part or the hotel was shapped like a pyramid and it was all based on an egyptian theme. It wasnt the easiest hotel to find your way around...and every corridor seemed to leed to the casino. I guess that is their tactic as they want you to spend all your money there. The casino was huge and never ending..and it was worrying to find out that it was quite a small casino compared to most.
We had our huge buffet dinner and then headed out on the strip to live it up! The first thing we came across was the hotel
Devils Golf
Hard course there 'New York New York' which looked fantastic at night as it was set up as all the New York sights, such as the Statur of liberty, Empire state building etc. We saw that it had a roller coaster going in and out of it, so we just had to go and give this a try. It was great, it took us so high up, and we could see so much of Vegas' strip.
The strip was so much better at night, and had a completely different feel to it. All the hotels looked amazing and there are over 58 hotels going along the strip. The most impressive had to be 'Ceasars Palace', 'MGM Grand' and 'Bellagio'. We saw this huge water show infront of Bellagio...it was a bit better than 'Prancing waters' in the Isle of Wight!
Our second day in Las Vegas got of to a brilliant start ...... we slept in! We wanted to see the other end of the strip, so we caught the monorail down to the far enf othe strip. It took us to the Sahara hotel where we knew there was a very impressive roller coaster. We bought our tickets, walked
Luxor
Our hotel at night up and we saw it go....we were so scared as we didnt realise how fast this thing actually went. Apparently it goes from 0-70mph in just over 2 seconds...ouch! It was great fun though, and was worth the money.
We saw this very funny sign that had 'The Amazing Jonathan - The musical Genius' or something like that and that made us all laugh ....we didnt realise dad was doing shows in Vegas now. We went to the hotel Circus Circus and it looked great, and we made it in time to watch a circus show. Lots of acrobatics etc...classic vegas.
We got back to the hotel and did a spot of sunbathing and swimming...fasntastic, first bit of swimming of this trip, followed by the best thing in Vegas yet. We went and watch Cirque du Soleil perform a show called 'Mysteir'. It was sooo AMAZING! One of the best shows I have ever seen and they were all so talented and funny. It was a truely fantastic thing to finish off Vegas with. Sadly no gambling or drinking as im not 21 yet......shame....Maybe next time!
