Welcome to FRANCE!!
July 16, 2023 – Caroline Welcome to France

It’s Sunday, everyone is sleeping in except Kirsten. I roll over, it’s quiet and dark, maybe no one is missing me. I close my eyes and drift off. Not for long, Kirsten is gently shaking me. Wake up sleepy head breakfast is ready, and you are late as usual.

Ugh! I rollout of bed, dress and trip down the stairs. Everyone is at the table all awake and ready to go except me.

Eva has prepared a fabulous breakfast. I chow down and was making my sneak away sandwich and Kirsten leans over and reminds me we don’t have to sneak around family. Oh Yea, I forgot.

Breakfast is over and we are all outside and loaded into the cars. We’re off to Strasbourg, as in France. We are taking the back roads so to see as much of France as possible.

We cross the border into France and Caroline is disappointed that we crossed the border just like going from Florida to Georgia, no passport stamps. Kirsten finds us a parking garage in the center of Strasbourg and when we come up from the underground garage, we are right in front of the cathedral. We wander around the center of Strasbourg and have lunch on the river.

During lunch, Swen suggests we go to Baden Baden back in Germany and says he has a special treat for us after our stop.

Once we arrive in Baden Baden , we walk around the center and Kirsten and Bea explain why Baden Baden is so popular. Me.....I find a nice café and order a beer and wait until Kirsten realizes I’m not around and comes looking for me. Kirsten walks up behind me picks up my beer, takes a drink, and says you can run but you can’t hide. Yea, she tracks me on Find Friends, I Just love this woman.

Ok, now for the surprise, Swen takes up the mountain to a parking area then we all pile out and then get on a cog train to the top of the mountain to a restaurant where we have dinner on top of the Merkur mountain and watch kite flyers jumping off. How cool is that.

After the sun has gone down, we head back to Swen and Eva house. After one game of cards, we are so tired and ready for our beds.

Oh, I forgot Mark and Savannah arrive tomorrow. We will have a house full now.

Good night...

STRASBOURG.... on the bucket list
Thanks for this post. I'm so glad y'all have this opportunity to do these things. Strasbourg is on our bucket list, as is just a lot more travel. I ***love*** reading your posts. This is a great way to have all these memories solidified. Y'all travel a lot, and we do, too, and after a while, it is hard to remember when we were in X or Y, so writing all of this down is a great thing to do. My hat's off to you for recording all. of this this way! As much as we love travel, we are finding it harder to leave our house (except during JULY and AUGUST and maybe parts of SEPTEMBER, when the weather here is so horrible). When y'all get back, can we PLEASE get together again??? Huge hugs to all of y'all! Say hi to Kirsten and to Bea, please! Keith & Jim
