Well we get up in our own time as we have decided not to go too far today as we want to go to the Cliffs of Moher and once again I would like to see the cliffs from the sea. So somehow we get out of Galway as the signs are not very good for the Wild Atlantic Way (WAW) but we eventually get there with some guessing and instinct and we finally leave the County of Galway and make it into County Clare. Now let’s be honest County Galway is very rugged, not as spectacular as I have said before of Donegal but still spectacular in a rugged sense. We make our way to Kinvarra which is supposed to be a very pretty place and yes it is but we keep on track and make our way to Murrooghtoohy to the look out and it is back to a different scene which is once more very dramatic. We then get to a farmers market where I get a lesson in shucking oysters (this means opening them not throwing them, ha ha) and have 3 fresh oysters with lemon juice. Mike decides once again to fall on his sword and let me have them all - not that he is not an oyster lover like me. We then make our way to Doolin to the campsite we have booked for the night. It is a fabulous site in a fabulous position just off from the pier where the ferries leave for the islands or to see the Cliffs of Moher from the sea. We book our tickets for the last boat as it is jammed packed with coaches and tourists. My thought was if we book the last boat at least most of the tourists would have left - let’s see if I have worked this out okay.

We walk in to Doolin and thunder and lightening starts and my god what a downpour. I am glad I said let’s take our rain jackets as we got wet well soaked to be honest but at least it stopped raining for the ferry trip to see the cliffs. Now the Cliffs of Moher are apparently the second most popular thing in Ireland after the first, a pint of Guinness! They are spectacular but if honest not as spectacular as Slieve League.

After overnight at the campsite, we set off

before 10am. We drive past one of Donald Trump’s golf courses which explains why it had an American Flag flying - we did not go down to see if Donald was there as not sure when his next court appearance is going to be. We then drive on to the Kilkee Cliffs which are absolutely stunning and if honest much much much more stunning than the Cliffs of Moher and I cannot believe that everyone does not want to see them. I was really pleased that this time I was not on the overhanging the cliff side but still we were really high up and I did have to hold my breath a few times.

We needed to take a ferry from Killimer to Tarbert which was so easy to book and board - it only takes 20 minutes and as it was pouring down again we stayed in the Motorhome for the crossing. We then keep driving and stop off at Carragh Pier and find out that Mohammed Ali’s great grandfather sailed from here - you see it is good to stop as I would never have known that without stopping.

We are looking for somewhere to stay tonight and have found a nice little park up once more overlooking the sea - well if the rocks were not there and the tarmac wasn’t raised a bit we would be in the sea when the tide comes in.

Oh by the way do you remember I told you I met Angela and her son well they are now also reading my blog and her son is called Cillian - so a big shout out to Cillian and they are going to let me know how their first time in a motorhome goes - I am sure with all the research Cillian has done it will go amazingly well.

We are off to Dingle tomorrow and have been warned by every map and book that whatever we do we must not go over the Connor Pass as it is much too narrow for motorhomes and also we have to do the Dingle circle clockwise - all these things I have to remember as the chief, and only haha, navigator.
