So we set off at a reasonable time this morning and we hit the road again down the Wild Atlantic Way (WAW). I think we have started to get a bit complacent as we forgot to turn the gas off and made quite a few misjudgements with the road signs. So told Mike we need to stop being cocky with this all and rein it in a bit. Well as we are driving along all I can see are men (now I was going to say Paddy’s but seeing as this is not PC - I have said men, ha ha) at the side of the road waiting for something and not just one man lots of men and not in a group all separately - now I wonder what they are waiting for could it be a coach to take them to the ferry to get to America! If anyone is reading this and knows what is going on I would love a message please.
I am getting a bit annoyed as some places on the WAW are not motorhome friendly at all - they have height barriers - we get to An Spiddeal but can’t get in and
Where we had lunch
Special of the day mussels - not good if honest and not a special this was the same at Silver Strand however this place was even worse as you really struggled to turn a motorhome around especially as you had cars trying to get around you.
We are staying in a great little campsite YES we have decided to book a campsite so we can do the obligatory get water etc. I would definitely recommend O’Halloran’s caravan park. I contacted Robert to see if there were any spaces on Wednesday and he said text me on Thursday and I will see if there are any vacancies. So I texted Robert and he replied quite late and apologised profusely about coming back to me late. We have arrived at the campsite and it is really great so going to walk into Galway city or catch the bus not sure which one yet.
We decided to take the bus as it had started raining which has been unusual for this trip. It cost 1.90 euros each to get into Galway City which was quite a few miles. I am thinking us lot up in the North are being fleeced as when we were in London a few weeks ago the fares were small wherever
we went but if you take a bus if you could because they stopped the buses from Clitheroe to us only a few miles used to costs me a fortune. I am glad we have only one night here as I was planning on spending more time in Galway City but if I am totally honest it’s a city and maybe I am being unfair but not a very pretty city and if totally honest a bit of a disappointment but maybe I am doing it an injustice.
So we have decided to move on tomorrow and stay near the Cliffs of Moher and as it is Saturday night we have decided to once again stay in a campsite - so let’s see how we get on. This next campsite has a washing machine so will get some washing done if possible. As I said, the site is also supposed to be near the Cliffs of Moher so maybe late or early go down when the crowds have gone. I am not sure how I feel as I have been informed that Sliabh Liag was more impressive in Donegal - I will let you know the outcome on my next blog. By the end of tomorrow we should be on map 4 of 7 - will we make it doing the whole WAW or will we have to come back to finish it?
