I’m struggling to keep up. I don’t multitask as well as I used to. You are just going to have to give me a little leeway.....that’s all I ask. Lulu is very impatient and is beginning to annoy me. So I need your understanding support. Thanks.
Earlier this year, Sandy & Sam and us bought annual passes to Disneyworld. They accepted us as Florida residents so our tickets were priced accordingly....not cheap but fair. Three visits to any of their parks will pay for our passes. We get free parking and discounts on souvenirs and food. We have blackout days but that’s ok....we wouldn’t go there at those times anyway.
We waited to go until after our cruise. The day we went was when our year began. First choice was The Animal Kingdom. Sam spoke the first and the fastest with this selection. Good choice, Sammy. It was a perfect day...weather and crowd wise. We passed through all the entry booths as slick as a whistle (when is a whistle slick?). We have special wristbands we wear. Snazzy. We all went on the Safari Ride. It was a bumpy jaunt in their oversized covered jeeps but we were able
to see so many wild animals in their natural habitats. It was fun even though we weren’t wearing kidney belts. We walked through most of the park before we decided enough was enough. My legs were refusing to move anymore. Stiff Sandy! Sam had sat enough. Sore Sam! Cory & Sandy probably could have continued (die-hards) but after awhile, you just know it’s time to bid Mickey farewell. Good-bye, Mr. Mouse! We have lots of times to go back to see anything we missed. I’ll give you a “heads up” the next time we go and what park we will be visiting. Probably the Magic Kingdom. Okay with you?
President’s Day we made our way back to the Webster Flea Market. This day is one of their mega shows for dealers and customers. Dealers are even set up in the overflow area across the road. Lulu was thrilled. She was able to get her picture taken over and over. She was showing off her stuff, again. ???You’re So Vain???! We found only 2 treasures plus I bought one onion. It was fun wandering around all the crazy stuff that brought us so much joy (and money) over the years.
We are trying hard not to miss it! Sniffle.
The other day, the guys had their dream come true. We went to Harbor Freight. Fun-Wow....no, boring....so Sandy and I walked over to the Bulk Nation food store and checked it out for any new delicacies.
Waaait a minute! I hear a train whistle close by. I love trains...just like my idol, Sheldon Cooper (Big Bang Theory). I think the train is calling out to us. The fairly new SunRail train station was located close to Harbor Freight. We had only minutes to spare as we hustled ourselves to the loading platform to board the Iron Horse. Hooray! A couple years ago, Cory, Sandy & I had taken this train to Winter Park to go to their Art Show. The train was free for this so it was packed! Not this time....plenty of room for Sam & his scooter and the three of us. We bought roundtrip tickets for $4.75. We were going to ride as far as we could. It took us north to DeBary.
We were at the Tupperware station and it would continue to Poinciana if we wanted to. We settled with the Tupperware station.
The ride was about one hour long....each way. First we sat on the lower level. There was a nice guy that we chatted with. Jay was his name. He got off at the Orlando Health station using his crutches. He liked it when I took his picture and sent it to him. Sandy & I tried out the upper level of this delightful train car. The view was very good and we had a little table to sit at. I could easily enjoy traveling by train all the time. Choo-Choo. We had hoped to get off at DeBary and go to a nice restaurant. Nope...not much there and would have to take a taxi. If you get off at Winter Park or the Church Street Station, you are right in the vicinity of their stores and restaurants. Just a short walking distance. Oh, I hope we take this train again. It was so quiet....no clickety clack on the tracks.....kind of missed that. You will really like it when we go again. Decide now, you want to go up or down? Decisions, Decisions.
This past Saturday, Cory & I went to Palm Harbor to see a good friend, Bev Clancy.
She and her husband, Ed, were entrepreneurs in our town of Wellsville and around. Years ago, they owned and operated several restaurants in our community. Their biggest one was close to our house just over the border in Genesee, PA. It was called Penn Valley. Oh, the many great times and wonderful memories we have of that place. They hired our 3 kids to be waitresses, bartenders and a dishwasher. They have been so good to us and our family. Sadly, Ed passed away last August. He’s deeply missed by his family and friends. We told Bev we would be taking her out to lunch. WOW! The restaurant she selected was fabulous! It’s called the Lucky Dill. It claims to be a Brooklyn Deli but the size of this place is humongous. You can also eat outside. Their bakery is to die for! I know I gained weight just looking at it all. We ate inside. It has an Irish mood to it....even our waiter, Tyler, looked like he had just come from the Blarney Stone. The menu was heavy and big...I mean really big. Like an encyclopedia book! More than I could even read. You want it.....they have it.
I stopped reading as soon as I got to a tongue sandwich. Yes.....that’s right....a tongue sandwich. Beef tongue. I love beef tongue. Cory is repulsed by it. How are you handling it? I bet some of you are in my corner. I used to cook them myself but haven’t found them in the grocery store of recent. I ordered a half tongue sandwich, pasta fagioli soup & cole slaw. It came with a dill pickle. It was absolutely delicious and ginormous. I had to ask for a doggy bag. Cory got a grouper sandwich and was in his glory land. “Best ever” he said. Bev got a monster size turkey sandwich on an onion roll. She enjoyed it but needed a doggy bag, also. If you are in this area of Palm Harbor, check out this restaurant.....you won’t be sorry. It is tops! You know it’s good when there are no parking places. We parked next door in a strip mall.
While in the area, we texted Jeff & Judy. They live in Hudson not too far from Palm Harbor. Unfortunately, they weren’t home so we’ll just have to try again to visit them. Spur of the moment plans
don’t always work out....like this time. Catch you another day, J & J.
Cory had his post-op visit to his eye doctor. His operative eye is doing very well. He does have a small astigmatism in it that the doctor said it may resolve by itself in 4-6 weeks or he will tweak it in the office. This Wednesday, he goes again to have the cataract removed off his left eye. Deja Vu! I’ll be driving back again but after the other trial run, I think I’ll manage just fine...well, maybe just okay...but I know I can do it. Pray for bumper to bumper traffic. I do my best at 10-20 mph.
Okey Dokey.....I’m done! Please no applause. I know it is only for the closure. Busy times are looming ahead so get your rest and be ready to go at a moment’s notice. It’s the best I can do, folks.
See you soon! Hey, Wait! 35 pictures for you to see so start your viewing.
