Hi Hi!
I was just wondering if anybody had experienced crossing the border from Vietnam into Laos at Tay Trang?? Any hot tips on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! Reply to this

Hi,

The border has been open to foreigner since 2nd May 2007. Visa on arrival for Laos, but not Vietnam. Great tours on both sides! Pave road in Vietnam side, dust and bumpy on Lao side. Won't be disappointed!

For further info, contact me at

Regarding the border crossing at Tay Trang, we did it today no problems. Just make sure you have a Vietnam VISA in advance (I think Laos issues them at the border if coming from Vietnam). Reply to this

hi. i will be in laos in a few days time. i plan to cross the border but i will be coming from hanoi and get a bus that will take me to luang prabang. last february/march, when i was also in hanoi, i asked my guesthouse to inquire about the bus that travels to luang prabang. i was told that it costs $18 for an 18 hour trip, but i have been reading and this trip might actually take 20 - 24 hours. any idea what bus company this is? if it's really 18? does it change buses at the border, and which border is this? how long does it really take?

ive read somewhere that there are none that goes straight to luang, but viantiane direct. i dont need any visa coz my country is visa-free, but any tips (along immigration, etc?) i know i have so many questions but i am a little anxious about border-crossings (i hate them). i hope anyone can help me with my questions. would be appreciated.
