Getting from buenos Aires to Bolivia via coach/bus

I need suggestions on what's the best route to get a coach from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Bolivia. How much it'll set me back - and how long it'll take.

Hello everyone! As mentioned above, I need suggestions on what's the best route to get a coach from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Bolivia. How much it'll set me back cash wise - and how long it'll take. Ideally I need to do this route in a week. Is that doable? Where would you recommend me getting off at? I have a flight booked to go straight from BA to Santiago, but am considering skipping that and doing the above instead so that I get longer in Argentina and skip Chile, which I'm told is quite expensive and not a lot there as I can see the salt Planes in Bolivia.

Thanks in advance for any advice you have,

KatDog

hey Kat,
not sure if you've researched this more but i went from Bolivia to Buenos Aires recently, and I did it by going west into Chile (ie. La Paz to Arica), then south through Chile (antofagasta and santiago were the major cities). Panamerican bus lines and many others do the route, many times a day, and once you get to santiago, you cross east over the andes, into mendoza (i suggest splitting it half way at mendoza, they have great wine there), and then mendoza to buenos aires. the buses are more expensive in argentina but super comfy and you just take overnight ones and sleep in the fully reclinable seats. the other buses (chile and bolivia especially) are much cheaper but can be much dirtier, but always safe and the drive is beautiful. Depending on how much you break up the bus trips/city visits, it takes a while to go from bolivia to BA (total driving probably circa 50hrs) but i dont quite remember.
you can also bus from bolivia through paraguay/uruguay but thats much less common and from what i understand about paraguay, a little less safe.
good luck!
