So I was browsing around for something entirely unrelated and I found a Kite Surfer on a beach in Portugal. You can also see people riding bicycles and trams in Amsterdam.

Have you spotted anything interesting?

I dont spend much time Google map spying, but somebody told me he was spying on his town someplace in the UK and saw his mother in a car there.

Since Google has street view now, how did they actually take the pictures of the streets? If i would know that was Google, I would really wave and pose at the cam. lol. Reply to this

They have a google car that drives around and takes photos in 9 directions simultaneously. It also records details of wifi networks... and is chased by by people...

I saw one go by once. It was a minivan with an enormous white dome on top and it was plastered with Google logos. I ducked down until it was gone, because I don't want to be one of those people you see in Streetview 😞) Reply to this

I forget where it was, but we saw a streetview picture of some guys dressed up in hockey gear (I think) sitting on the side of the road, and as you click further down the street you can see them get out of the chairs and chase after the googlecam truck down the road. I think that's the best one I've seen yet!! Reply to this

I think, that happened in Norway. Does anybody know the link to it?

The little street guy cant walk down my street and look in my garden, so looks like the Google people havent been in my neighbourhood. I was going to spy on myself.

Me and my boyfriend were going to find straw hats and pitch forks, and then chase the Google car if we see it in our neighbourhood. Then we found out that because of new privacy laws, the Google people are not allowed to photograph German streets. Reply to this

Gizmodo has a thread dedicated to the strange things you see on street view. I especially like the "dry hump" caught on camera in Wolverhampton, England!

The centre of Dublin is now Google cameraed. I can walk down the street where my appartment(I dont live there right now) is.

The appartment is in the heart of tourist ville, or one of Dublins tourist villes anyway. It is a couple of minutes walk from the Guinness Brewery.

Here is my street in Dublin, which I can now virtually walk down, from anywhere in the world which has available internet access.

null blog 250049 is a blog I wrote about the area. It is now at least a bit less rough, than the blog describes, but still rough, as much of inner city Dublin is, and not such a great thing for unaware tourists, who dont know you can walk fairly safely on one street at night, while one next to it is horribly risky to walk on after dark. But, the crime is getting less and less over the years there. There is even a police car on part of the Google street view near my appartment. Hopefully they are doing more than just issuing parking tickets. To my boyfriends great frustration, they liberally issued parking tickets while we were living there, but we could practically hear them yawn when we reported our car that was stolen and burn out around the corner, and then the replay that happened with the subsequent 4 cars that we had over a year to replace stolen ones.

I was delighted yesterday, to discover you can now walk down the Khao San Road on Google Earth.

While I was virtually walking around the Khao San area, I even spotted the waitress in my favourite cafe who served me many green coconuts and coffees on my last few visits to Bangkok. 😊 Reply to this
