hitchike sailboat...
hi.
my plan is hitchhike from creta 2 hawai. am now halfway, malaysia. i think i go 2 australia n then start 2 hitchhike sailboats goin east. but i guess this is against the wind n currents.
somebody has idea if this is managable?
anyt tips?
thanx
Reply to this I've never heard of hitch hiking boats before! Have you tried it before? I would imagine you'd have to have sailing experience and be expected to pay some money for your food etc. Can't imagine you'd find many people willing to take you on though because I would imagine on a sailing boat you'd be hitching for a few days at a time?
Reply to this actualy i didnt do it so far, but i heard from it oftn, even a friend did it in canarien island( 2 latin america), its free, u just help a bit on board, cleaning and i dont know what. as far as i know xperience is not reqiered...u get it on the trip.
just g 2 the ailboat port, ask arround.
there r websides with information u can easyly goole with" hitchhike sailboat"
good luck...
Reply to this Thanks for the info but I won't need the luck. I have no illusions of myself as a sailor. It sounds a bit too much like hard work. And I'm not big on boats either. :p I hope it works out for you though! Let us know how you go.
Reply to this Not sure if your route is managable, but I have met people hitching rides from South Africa to places in the Mediterranean on new yachts being delivered from the shipyard to the customer. It might be worth checking out some yacht builders - obviously sailing experience would be an advantage.
Reply to this ehm, googled some information bout routes, winds n stuff.boats from australia 2 fidshi is april-may,new zealand april -june.
i changed plan, go first europe, make money then make route from canarians 2 latin america, oct-jan. the canarian island are somewhat best departure port in world, i think.
