How much would you pay for a "budget" double room?

I am curious about the acceptable price range of an average pension room? So how much would you pay for that?

I am curious about the acceptable price range of an average pension room? So how much would you pay for that? Think of a normal room equipped with TV, fridge, bathroom. Breakfast should be included or not? What are your needs and what is an acceptable price for that? Reply to this

It would depend on which country I was in. In some countries, these types of rooms are only occasionally affordable, whereas in other countries they would be affordable to stay in often. But, I generally prefer to stay in someplace inexpensive. TVs and fridges are not as important as making the travel money last.

I dont know if breakfast should be included or not. It is nice if it is not only seved early in the morning, and if it is relaxing. ie Plenty of coffee available, so guests can sit around reading or chatting for a while if they want. Reply to this

Thanks! About prices, think of Europe. To compare, a cheaper 4star hotel room is for 110 EUR, a 3star is about 80 EUR. 1 EUR is approx 1,5 USD.
If you had to choose between 2 options, for example
1. -> 50 EUR/ double room inc. breakfast, kitchen, shower, flatscreen tv, gym etc...
2, -> 25 EUR excluding everything but bed & shower.
So which would you take?

The kitchen is a good selling point. If I was someplace with my boyfriend and daughter, something like that and a nice eating area might be worth paying extra for.

I dont think things like flatscreen TVs and gyms are all that great, but maybe a balcony would make a room worth paying more for, especially if it has a good view.

But paying more, is for special occasions such as birthdays and not just for regular travel. For regular travel, I would choose the one with just bed and shower. Reply to this

Ah, these are valuable opinions! So extras are not that important to pay for. And what about if you are going on an 1-2 week holiday? The same?

Thank you, Mell! Reply to this

Traveling the west of the USA, i believe $70 USD (1 EUR is approx 1.5 USD = 47 Eur) to be average price for a basic room with with TV, fridge, bathroom. Breakfast isn't always included but it's always nice to find one for that price that does include a breakfast.
And i am with Mell, i don't really think things like a flatscreen tv are all that impressive. It is nice if the place has a pool in the summertime depending on how hot it is or jacuzzi in the winter.
If i am staying for a week or two, a microwave (in the room or at the front desk) at least is very helpful for cooking some meals or reheating leftovers if im looking to save some money. Reply to this

Well, I am just not so interested in TVs and Gyms. I would never consider them worth paying for. They both take up too much of the holiday time. And, I dont even use those things at home.
