Starts June 2010 in South Africa. - Where would you suggest watching it in South America?
Where would you suggest watching it in South America? Taking into account the time difference, which city, country, do you think would make for the best experience. I'm thinking BA, Argentina, but as i'm English, that'll be a tough one for me!
Reply to this Hello Phil 😊
I think you will be able to watch it anywhere in S. America. Likely all other life will stop when there is a match on. I was in C. America during one of the world cups. There were big screens up in the streets in Mexico and in the banks even. One time I wanted to change money during a match, and they kept me waiting for 20 minutes because there was an exciting part of a match on and the bank staff wanted to watch it.

Reply to this Good question! Football is religion in most South American countries. I don't think the time difference will be anymore than 5hrs from South Africa so all matches should be easy to see in BA. Brazil is hosting the next one so they might have something a bit extra going on for this one. Just hope England don't meet the Argies if your in Buenos Aires!!
Reply to this we watched a few games at the last world cup in argentina!
to say they are passionate is an understatment!
when argentina were knocked out there were people crying in the street!
the funniest thing was all coverage pretty much stopped when they eliminated. all the decoration in shops/bars was taken down straight after the game in question and we struggled to find a pub showing the next england game!
all very funny really.
outside of south africa or your home nation there couldn't be a better place to watch it!
Reply to this The best places to watch it would be the countries with teams playing. Everyone will be watching it, but there will be a lot more enthusiasm if there is a local team in the games.
Reply to this I was in Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires during last world cup and those are probably the 2 best places to be. Actually, anywhere in Brasil, and then Buenos Aires. Brasil goes absolutely crazy and the music, dancing, etc is probably unmatched by any country. I was in BA when Argentina beat Mexico and it was a lot of fun as well, especially being at the Obelisk, outside of BA, was not as fun (was in Mendoza when Arg lost.) You can check out my blogs from 2006 for more info.
As far as Central America, a lot of central america soccer is not the #1 sport (ie panama, Nicaragua)....Costa Rica is probably pretty pissed at not making it, but being in Honduras when they play would be a lot of fun. Bet definitely try for anywhere in Brasil or Buenos Aires.
We will be going to South Africa!!!!
