Another train route between Moscow and Beijing. Anyone done this route?

I'm sure everyone here is familiar with the trans-Siberian/trans-Mongolian route, but I haven't seen much info on the silk road route.

Anyone done this route?
Kazakhstan and northern China VS Siberia and Mongolia
How about a round trip? Make it a true overland adventure (no flying back) and no backtracking.

Either way looks like an interesting trip that deserves a topic of its own, hope someone can contribute with more useful info on this one.

Sundowners Overland offer a tour like this. Have a look on their website for details.

I did the Trans Mongolian with them last year and they were really good value.

It was a bit more pricey than organising it myself but having now experienced the hassles involved - even for the locals - I was glad I paid the extra and was able to enjoy myself and let someone else do the worrying for a change. Reply to this
