I did this trip backwards ,Mancora-Guayaquil, 3months ago and it was fairly easy.Takes the longest time of any border crossing I've done ,I think, but it is all part of the adventure Reply to this

Hello David 😊

When I crossed that border, I took a Peruvian bus to the Peruvian side of the border. Then I went into the immigration office. I cant remember if they stamped my passport or not. Then there were vans taking people to the Ecuadorian side of the border, where you can catch an Ecuadorian bus.

I dont know if there are busses that run from Peru, directly to a location in Ecuador or not.

If you want an easier crossing, try crossing at Macara - much less used and therefore a lot quicker. Buses go direct between Loja and Piura and then there are plenty of buses between Piura and Mancora. The crossing at Macara is tiny and literally involves one stamp, a walk across a footbridge, another stamp then straight back on the bus - no con artists, no money lenders other than the official one and literally takes ten minutes to cross.

There are direct buses between Guayaquil and Machala which cross at the main crossing of Tumbes so you'll have to get off and sort buses from there to Mancora if you want to do it that way but from what I've heard from other people it can be a nightmare! Reply to this
