has anyone taken the Barcelona-Rome ferry, is it a better experience than just flying?
is taking the ferry from Barcelona to Rome worth the extra money, purely looking at it from a good experience perspective. fights are quite cheap but if the ferry experience is worth it we would rather have it.

why not take the train route around the med coast, stopping at places along the way; clean(ish, cheapish, meet lots of locals, much beter than flying.
done it many times, never thought about ferrying it though!
wouldn't the food and drinks on board, for the 2-3 days, be mega expensive?
if you want to fly, check out easyjet and ryanair, they may have special offers, although you may have to side track slightly?

Reply to this Other travelers may look here, so I'll add my bit to help out and to second the train trip. It takes a little more study of the schedules.
You get a ticket from Barcelona (Franca station) to Montpellier, France. Change there to a train to Nice. We stayed overnight at Nice Ibis, next to RR station. In the morning we traveled to Genoa where we changed to the train for Rome.
It was coastal all the way in daylight with many tunnels but some great views. Every train change gave us new people to chat with or attempt to chat.
