Looking for advice on reliable/not too expensive transportation to make the oversea crossing from Panama to Cartagena Columbia.

Hi there travellers:

A friend and I are travelling south from Guatemala to Panama in the next three weeks and are looking to catch a yacht to Cartagena Columbia from Panama City. I have heard this is an option but am trying to nail down some specifics. I.e.: names of reliable transporters, contact information, price estimates.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

I know this is a bit late but I wanted to add this for other travellers. The Boats between Panama and Cartagena are 5day trips of which 3.5 you see nothing but open ocean.I am a bit of a loner and even though I do enjoy other peoples company I was a bit scared of being stuck on a yacht for 5 days with a drunken ,coke addled skipper ,most are on that route, and a bunch of backpackers I didn't know ,so I asked everyone I met for an alternative route.Eventually I was told of this route.
From Monteria ,about 10hours bus from Cartegena or 8hours from Medallin, you get bus to Turbo. This is a rough arsed town but is safe enough. You book your boat ,lancha, trip for the next morn, then get hotel/hostel for night.Next morning at 8am the lancha leaves for Capurgana. In Capurgana I stayed with a Hawaian native,Joseph Silver ,very appropriate name for this part of the world, and his Colombian wife ,Nery, at their hotel "Darius CabaƱas".I ended up staying a week and am trying to raise the $ to buy a block of land there but this is getting off the story.
In Capurgana you get your exit stamp and get boat to Puerto Abaldia. Here you get your entry stamp and would normally fly to Panama City.they are doing up the airport so for next 6months you need to get another boat to Tubuala and fly from there.WHAT AN ADVENTURE.1 that I would recommend to everyone Reply to this
