Solo backpacking through several countries

Long ( 1-2 years plus) trip in planning to tour middle east and far east, solo white American male.

I have the rough sketch of my plan to go on a long hike through the middle east, starting in Macedonia, and ending in Tibet, in about 1.5 years. I have done some research before this, but would like some more opinions. My itinerary will be roughly as follows:

Macedonia - turkey, then following the mediterranean around to Egypt where I will spend some time. Then, back towards Jerusalem, Syria, Iraq (north to south), Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan and finally India.

I will probably bring a few thousand dollars USD, and am not sure how far that will get me. I would be willing to work along the way, but am not sure if I could find any work as I dont speak any middle eastern languages. I would also be traveling by foot and hitchhiking, so I am very curious what there is to hear about that. Boat travel is also an option, but Id like to stay on the ground level as much as possible.

I dont mind foraging or hunting, though I understand that hunting would probably be illegal, though I could do it if need be. Ive done quite a bit of hiking and traveling before, have hiked mountain ranges and such.

What would you all suggest? Im fairly sure white Americans arent particularly liked in the area, but I may be wrong, because that is just how it is popularly thought to be.

You got to be kidding?

First of all: 1.5 years travel will cost you more than a few thousand dollars... 20 USD a day (was what I used when I travelled the region more or less) times 547 days (1.5 years) is just a little less than 11,000 USD.. But if that's few, go ahead 😊

Well, as you might know it's a troubled region..

And it's totally impossible to get into the following countries if you have Israeli stamps in your passport:
Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Indonesia, Libya, Sudan, and the all countries on the Arabian Peninsula!
Only countries that don't care are Jordan and Egypt.. And properly Iraq, but I won't recommend you to go there... There's a small war going on!
First of all you won't get a visa to Iraq, second of all it's only the northern part that is just a little safe! You'd be screaming 'tourist' all over the place and be kidnapped, killed or (if you're lucky) just beaten op with in your first few days there...

On the other hand, it can be difficult to get into Israel too, if you got Arabian stamps in your passport... Be ready for at least two to six hours if you been to Lebanon and Syria.. I was interrogated for 2 hours, then waited another six at the border while there were doing my background check... If you're an American citizen it's maybe easier, but then again... I'm Danish, and that's almost the same...

Even if this wasn't so, your route ran into another problem.. The border between Israel and Lebanon and Syria is closed.. Officially the countries are still at war... Don't forget the serious Israeli bombardments for South Lebanon and Beirut and that the Syrian Golan Highs is still occupied....

My advise to you would be to go as following: Macedonia - Turkey - Syria - Lebanon - Syria - Jordan - sail to Egypt - sail back to Jordan - back through Jordan and Syria - Turkey again - Iran (Americans WILL have difficulties getting a visa, check http://www.irantravelingcenter.com/visa_iran.htm) - Afghanistan (north part ONLY) – Pakistan - India

Or Macedonia - Turkey - Syria - Lebanon - Syria - Jordan - Israel - Egypt – forget about Iran and fly to Afghanistan - Turkey again - Iran (Americans WILL have difficulties getting a visa, check http://www.irantravelingcenter.com/visa_iran.htm) - Afghanistan (north part ONLY) – Pakistan - India

Job? Forget it! You can’t make enough money to travel on and it will be almost impossible to get a job in that region.. Even in the big cities…
Hitchhiking is on the other hand fairly easy in the Middle East... But don’t count on it for more than 40 percent of your transport.. Bring a tent and be even that it can be both difficult and dangerous to get stranded.

My final advice to you: Do some more research (a lot) and the go! It’s a fantastic region!
