And also to the Democrats and the USA.

Stephen - Again I feel compelled to comment on one of your claims...

"It may appear that there is a lot of Red, a lot of McCain supporters. The reality is that every major City voted for Barack Obama! All the major population centers are for Obama, in fact the only places which vote for McCain are the small towns"

Every major city did go for Obama, but your statement implies that only people in cities matter. The fact is that 57 million people (46% of the vote) went for McCain as well. It turns out that there are a lot of small towns and those people comprise a significant portion of the population...and they do matter. Reply to this

Stephen - I'm guessing that you're referring to my comments when you say this thread has been about the same BS that we've heard for the last 6 (20?) months. I hope you realize that my intent was to address Mel's question about what some people are afraid of...not an attempt at propaganda against Obama. But I'm glad you added the list of achievements as well.

Regarding my comment about not knowing what we'll get...I think it's fair to hold my opinion that it's hard to say someone will be a successful president (especially considering the conditions right now) based on the fact that they were a successful community organizer, law student (and Pres of Review) at Harvard, a state rep, and a Senator for a couple of years (4...but campaigned for 2 of them). Those are all good things and good indicators...but I still wouldn't be confident saying that I know what we'll get from him as President. There are a lot more factors to deal with in that role compared to the others he's held. I'm not much for declaring someone a failure or success before the game has begun.

So if the beef is that there wasn't enough congrats...then...Congrats, Mr./Senator/POTUS-Elect Obama. The achievement is amazing, exciting, and I'm hopeful for good things. Reply to this

I think it is about time the Democrats won an election. Alternating the parties periodically creates some balance.

I agree with Stephanie that change takes time and the average American has expectations that these things will occur overnight.

How do you rate the Obama presidency up to this point? Do you think he will be re-elected?

What would you like to see him do that he has not done?
What are you happy that he has accomplished? Reply to this

He sucks! The economy is way way down. We have so much unemployment it is not funny. He has tripled our debt. The man does not have a clue what he is doing and most of the time he is out playing golf. Reply to this

Yep, I'm sure Obama is personally responsible for the rapid decline of a formerly great nation. Reply to this

I would not say that. But his administration has been a travesty. Reply to this

Well, I'm not from the US, but it feels like at least he's trying. The Republicans seem to be doing all they can to make life hard for him and make the country ungovernable. So saying that it's his fault sounds preposterous to me. It's not him making the decisions anyway, he's only a lackey, but at least one that represents your country a hell of a lot better than that stooge Bush. Reply to this

Really? If stopping him means trying to keep the budget under control, more power to them. If representing us means giving the Queen of England a copy of your best speeches on an ipod and sending back the bust of Winston Churchill... Or how about walking out in Israel's leader during peace talks? Bowing so low to Japan's Emperor that it was a term of groveling? Or bowing to a Saudi prince? I actually sent a note of apology to the English embassy when he left the Queen off the guest list to go to the 60th memorial of D-Day.... She was alive at the time it happened and he did not invite her? Reply to this
