Eastern Europe is probably cheaper that the west. You didn't state how you are travelling, do you drive?

Fuel in Luxembourg is supposed to be the cheapest in Europe and eating out in countries like Hungary and etc are very cheap.

As I said, until we know how you plan to get around, it's hard to advise. Trains are possibly the cheaper and quickest form of public transport and you may be able to visit a few countries in that time. Reply to this

Fly-drive is a good option. You fly from one place, get a car and drive to another.

Or fly to one place, hire a car and leave from the same place.

Maybe start with Portugal, Lisbon is lovely, as is the Algarve. The castle/fort at the top of the hill in Lisbon is beautiful, and if your heading out near the beach, Over the bridge there is a big Jesus statue, bit like the one in Rio De Janero which is lovely. When I went, at night it was lit up with a blue star!

Then maybe head over to Spain to go to Barcelona, Madrid, lots of history there so I am told, I have never been so not much advice I can give, have you tried Lonely Planet?

France would be a good place too, Paris is wonderful, I loved the fresh bread there, I believe we went to an art gallery, I'm sorry the name escapes me, was years ago! We went to Disneyland also! Lol!

Then you can go Germany, Holland, Norway, Denmark... anywhere really, you just need to find a route that will suite you best. I'm not really sure what you want to see!

Have you looked at car hire as an option? Auto Europe do some good deals.

Let us know how you get on!

Hello Geoff 😊

I would let where you go depend on which flights from the UK are on special offer. Try Ryanair. They generally have good offers from the UK to mainland Europe

I second the suggestion about Lonely Planet. Get a copy of their guide for Europe. It is probably called Europe on a Shoestring by Lonely Planet. It costs around 30 Euros but worth it for the information it gives about accomodation, money, transport, safety, sights.....

Another option is to use Google Earth to plan a route. I have done this for my trip round europe.

It's great as you can view the road and rail routes and also click on blue dots which are peoples photos. The more blue dots in an area usually means the place is very popular or extremely scenic!

I found this really easy to do and, once I planned my route, I went on the web looking for campsites in the areas of interest. You could do this with hostels etc. Reply to this
