i am planning to travel extensively through out europe for 6 months or more. i plan to stay in hostels only and am more than happy to eat the local food to cut down on costs, however i do not want to have to cut my trip short or not be able to get in to any sights because i dont have enough money. i plan to go in a year and a half , after i finish high school so that should give me plenty of time to save. i am also thinking of getting a eurail pass aswell. is that a good option? any advice on where to stay, what to see and how to do it is more than welcome. how much money do i need??? Hello Katherine 😊

Not including intercity transport a backpackers budget for Europe would be 30 to 60 Euros per day depending on which countries you are in and how many tourist attractions you want to visit.

To cut costs you could take overnight trains. If you dont mind being not 100% comfortable you dont need to bother getting a sleeper(I think those cost extra, when you have a Eurail?). Just sleep in a seat.

Google hostels and name of a town or city you will visit in Europe and the options will come up. You can book them in advance on the internet by paying a deposit with your creditcard.

hostelworld.com is a good site to research the cost of hostels all over the world. when i went to europe i got the eurail pass and it was awesome and so convenient. its also cheaper if you're under 26. but it depends on which countries you're going to. i know some don't accept eurail passes.

raileurope.com is a good site for planning a trip using your rail pass Reply to this
